"All officers of government in this country, in every branch, at every level, have as the first obligation of their sacred oath the protection of all innocent lives within their jurisdiction.
Should I be elected to the office of President of the United States, I will keep my oath.
Justice Blackmun, in Roe vs. Wade, admitted that of course the child in the womb is protected by the Fourteenth Amendment, if they are a person.
Since it is self-evident that they are a person, my first act as President, after having sworn the oath, will be to publish a presidential finding to that effect.
My second act will be to ask for the resignation of anyone in the executive branch who will not act accordingly.
My third act will be to order the closing of every abortion facility in the country, as per the explicit, imperative requirement of the Supreme Law of the Land.
'No person shall be deprived of life without due process of law.'
'No State shall deprive any person of life without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.'
-- Tom Hoefling
Amazing. I'm in awe at such a leap of illogic.
Best of luck! Who knows, unless the polls in Illinois get tight, maybe I’ll write you in.
Thanks. I’ll welcome your support.
Your position was also that of Lew Lehrman of New York shortly after his baptism in a series of speeches and articles (including National Review) in defense of Operation Rescue. As I recall, Lehrman said correctly that the Pressident could send out United States Marshalls and shutter every abortion mill in the land since the president takes the same oath to preserve, protect and defend the constitution as any judge or legislator, since Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln both defied the courts, and since the right to life is primary. As Jackson memorably said in effect in announcing his defiance: Mr. Marshall has made his decision. Now let him call out his army to enforce it because mine won’t.
Yep.
His post 64 on this thread:
Anyone who helps Obama get reelected is a traitor.
On another thread, to someone who states he won't vote for Romney:
So youd prefer Obama?
And then, a a post where he argues that even Reagan was once "for" abortion, therefore Romney is okay, too:
Signing a bill which allows abortion is a move which supports abortion, otherwise you wouldnt sign the bill.
Kinda simple
Odd, then, that driftdiver objects to being called a Romney supporter. After all, he plans to vote for him and is trying to convince others to vote for him.
Kinda simple.
-- troll
-- Tom wants to be a dictator
-- Oh yeah, because yer a troll
-- Stop doing drugs and then perhaps people will listen.
--hey shithead, Im not a liberal
-- go eat a gob of fat
-- Youre just showing your ignorance and lack of class.
-- u bore me
..... OOOOPS! Those are all examples of insults drifty has hurled at other FReepers ...! A few minutes of in-forum browsing is so informative!
IMAGINE THAT!!!
********************************
I have to laud his winning strategy to seduce us all into voting for Romney.
Insulting and demeaning others is always so effective.
So Finny you and trisham are still out there throwing insults.
Pretty sad, and to think Jim called for a truce.
Trisham, don’t bother ever posting about being polite and reasonable in posts again to me.
********************************
Maybe it's just me, but I am reluctant to believe that Jim's reason for calling a truce was to allow Romney supporters the opportunity to insult those who decline to vote for him. I also find it difficult to believe that Jim's expectation was that the truce would allow Romney supporters to accuse them of being Obama supporters because they find Romney to be an unacceptable candidate.
Was the intent of the truce to allow a free insults toward the ABO crowd?
An insult coated in candy is still an insult.
In trying to justify voting for Romney, driftdiver points out that Reagan signed a bill that allowed for abortion in certain instances, and afterward that exception was used to justify all kinds of abortion (Reagan quickly regretted signing the bill). So, driftdriver reasons, Reagan was an abortion supporter -- therefore conservatives who object to Romney because of his abortion record are being hypocrites.
His exact words: "Signing a bill which allows abortion is a move which supports abortion, otherwise you wouldnt sign the bill."
Fine, then. Declaring that you plan to vote for a candidate and urging others to vote for that candidate, is a move of a candidate's SUPPORTER ... otherwise you wouldn't be planning to vote for the guy and you wouldn't be urging others to join you in voting for him.
But Romney is so repellent even to folks who plan to vote for him and want me to vote for him, that we see the phenomenon of them denying that Romney is "their candidate," we see them working hard to morally distance themselves from him.
That phenomenon is a HUGE RED FLAG alerting us that no matter what scary pictures we conjure up of Obama, ROMNEY WOULD BE AS BIG A MISTAKE. Many of us think the risk is enormous that he would in fact be a bigger mistake, as conservatives would have a hard time battling their own party's defacto "leader" in the most powerful office in the nation, a defacto "leader" who is, for example, head-over-heels in love with the environmentalist agenda. Read the posted responses at that link at Forbe's Magazine, on this recent article about Romney -- one of the posts is very chilling, from what looks to be a moderate Republican who notes that Republicans "have long supported green energy," and who thinks conservative opposition to it is cynicism combined with sympathy for the greedy energy companies.
Now, that may not be Obama, but a few months into 2014 when Romney and "green-responsible" moderate Republicans reach across the aisle for noble bipartisan efforts to "save the planet" and therefore subject America's food production and energy consumption and production to the UN global body -- PEOPLE, THINK ABOUT THE REAL RISKS OF ROMNEY.
Regardless of what Obama is and regardless of the ceaseless mantra "We cannot survive another four years of Obama! We cannot survive another four years of Obama! We cannot survive another four years of Obama! We cannot survive another four years of Obama! We cannot survive another four years of Obama!" -- ROMNEY IS BAD NEWS FOR EVERYBODY. And furthermore, the mantra "We cannot survive another four years of Obama!" is rooted in a form of mass hysteria.
It is a fact of human nature that fear and desperation make people do things they regret later. Romney would be just such a mistake.
Excellent post, Finny.
You’ve displayed plenty of anger, get off your high horse.
Obama will destroy this country if elected for a second term, period end of story.
3rd parties have never worked in Presidential elections, period.
Sarah Palin, Newt, Cain, Santorum and numerous others solid conservatives have come out to support the GOP candidate. I wish it wasn’t mittens but it is. I have a significant amount more respect for those folks for having the balls to be team players for the good of the country.
The irony here is that in post 507, Finny lists a series of insults offered to posters in this thread and identifies their author as none other than... YOU! LOL!
And post 51 - which you posted before anyone had insulted you - was a doozy - such a doozy that the mods deleted it for its scatological reference.
Then, in 508, trisham doesn't insult you. She merely notes through sarcasm that your insults offered to anti-Romney folks aren't exactly endearing or persuasive means of getting folks to start to support Mr. Romney. In this, she's right.
In that I'd prefer folks to vote for Mr. Romney than Mr. Hoefling, I kinda wish you'd shut the hell up for the duration and put a sock in it, as you are bad for the cause!
You're your own (and your cause's) worst enemy.
Quit while you're behind.
sitetest
And here trisham spoke so highly of you. I can see his judgement is sorely lacking.
Well said as always, FRiend. :)
As sitetest said “Quit while you’re behind”.
