Everyone likes a winner ... even impending ones. That's certainly the case for Wisconsin's Gov. Scott Walker. Although the liberal-leaning Milwaukee Sentinel's lead Sunday editorial expressed squeamishness over Walker's hobbling of cheesehead public employees, the newspaper admitted that Act 10, "-the law that clipped the wings of most public-employee unions in the state -was an overreach of political power, we understand and support the need to rein in the state's labor costs. Municipalities and school districts as well as the state needed more control over their budgets, which Act 10 provided."
The Sentinel also noted that a Marquette Law School Poll taken last January found that Wisconsinites want to keep Gov. Walker right where he is: "72% of Republicans, 44% of independents and 17% of Democrats said recalls should be limited to criminal wrongdoing."
In other words, the public doesn't think political opposition to the bureaucratic state rises to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors.
To hear union organizers and their oily supporters tell it, attempting to control the cost of government and to curtail the power of state employees over the lives of citizens (and voters) is a crime against humanity.
"I mean, the guy sucks," said MSNBC commentator Ed Schultz of Gov. Walker, "He's terrible. The people of Wisconsin can't stand this guy. He's going in the wrong direction ... the middle-class in Wisconsin used to be very strong and now they're out to prove that they still are. And the governor is already feeling the heat."
When Progressives like Schultz speak of the "middle-class" they really mean pampered government employees.
Just in passing, a new Rasmussen poll finds that 64% of "likely U.S. voters" prefer fewer government services and lower taxes.
When European socialists speak of "economic growth" they mean in government "stimulus" spending. After trillions of dollars wasted on bailouts, stimulus and "green jobs," even the most jaded American is beginning to realize that entrepreneurs create sustainable economic growth and create jobs.
The Milwaukee Sentinel editorial added, "Walker's zeal to give governments more control over their destinies was, we believe, matched only by his zeal to deal a harsh blow to a key Democratic constituency. That has made him a national hero to Republicans."
And, they forgot to add, a majority of Wisconsinites regardless of party affiliation.

Conservatives have made it clear since before the primaries even kicked off what would happen if the Republicans run Mitt Romneycare.

This recall should never have happened. It’s the Democrat’s way of saying “I’m going to hold my breath until my face turns blue.”...very childish and very immature. But hey, it will have bled the unions dry for the time being and it will show them up for what they really are.

MrEdd: I appreciate your Conservative “purist” convictions, my friend. But, don’t paint all Conservatives with your broad brush. Many Conservatives like myself, (and I’ve been a Conservative since I campaigned for Barry Goldwater in 1964) realize that we have, in The White House, a devious, diablolical, lying, Kenyan Marxist who gets a free pass from the media and has a 46% base who will vote for him even if there was a video of him in bed with a dead girl or a live boy. We also realize that given 4 more years without the “check” of having to face the voters again, he will totally destroy this nation.
So, we choose to act rationally rather than emotionally and truly plant our feet in cement this time and say: ANYBODY BUT OBAMA. And as close as this election is going to be, every vote counts so we don’t have the luxury of voting 3rd Party or leaving the top spot on the ballot blank. These are times that try men’s souls.

You are correct. The only thing that concerns me is that if Obama sees his poll numbers tanking, he might start a conflict with Iran. But, let’s remember: George H. W. Bush was at a 90% Approval Rating during Desert Storm... he lost his reelection bid to Bill Clinton. George W. was flying high in the polls after 911 and had he not squeaked out a victory in Ohio, we would have had President Kerry in the White House. And.........
Things can also happen in our favor. Latest released documentation is starting to prove now that Obama truly was born in Kenya; i.e. his book bio saying he was “born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii”. His support of Gay Marriage. His comment about “Greedy White People” in his book “Dreams From My Father”...... And so much more. Oh did I fail to mention $5 Trillion in debt, dismal Unemployment numbers and sagging Economy? So, yes, “a lot can happen between June 5 and November 6”, but a lot of it can be in our favor.

Indded you CAN help.....by going to Chicago, get on the “voters bus to Wisconsin”, come to Wisconsin and vote for WALKER....The Dem’s take this ride all the time but will probably be voting for a Dem candidate instead. Use the free bus ride to your advantage.

New numbers show state gained significant jobs in 2011
Quarterly data is actual count rather than monthly survey; most economists vouch for data

Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development secretary Reggie Newson released this week 2011 actual jobs data based on reports from nearly 160,000 employers, which showed that the state added more than 23,300 jobs between December 2010 and December 2011.
The numbers fly in the face of earlier reported job losses in the state, but Newson said those counts were based on small survey estimates.
“For the first time, we see Wisconsin’s 2011 jobs picture based on what 96 percent of Wisconsin employers reported, not what statistics out of Washington, D.C., estimated based on a survey of 3.5 percent of Wisconsin businesses,” Newson said. “Wisconsin added jobs last year, which not only contradicts the loss in jobs that the federal government estimated for our state, but also lines up with other indicators that show Wisconsin’s economy is headed in the right direction.”
Every quarter, Newson said, all employers covered under state or federal unemployment insurance are required to submit tax reports on monthly employment, quarterly total and taxable wages, and contributions for hourly and salaried employees.
Wisconsin has nearly 160,000 business establishments employing approximately 2.7 million workers that are required to submit the information to DWD. The agency then sends the data to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which incorporates the information when it publishes the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages.

I am not a purist. I do make compromises when that is the best course.
I am however, a military man and I recognize thet there are minimum standards that can not be honorably breached and I am quite able to make hard choices.
And to persuade others to do the right thing even when there are consequences.
Preserving a seat at the table for social, religious, and military conservative (not one of which will still have a meaningful voice in either party if Romney can run and win as a a Republican) is vastly more important that economic benefits now or even avoiding an economic collapse.
I am not traveling blind, just toward a destination that may require more hardship and sacrifice than you are willing to expend given a choice.
I make no bones about not giving you a choice.
We shall certainly see whether or not this can still be the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Yesterday Walker had a great rally in Sheboygan. Walker sounds strong and upbeat.
