If one is reasonably intelligent and willing to learn and has the time he can save alot by embracing self reliance and attempting difficult tasks. I have found that I can do most mechanical repairs on my own and save a lot of money. My desire to learn came about after being ripped off by supposedly respectable mechanics. Adjusting a brake cable is a fairly easy thing to do and this fellow is well on his way to learning how to accomplish it. I congratulate him on taking the initiative. I in no way am saying it is for everyone and there are instances when a mechanic is the best choice....it is always my last choice however.
