The wife and I just bought appliances and furniture for our new home. We had them delivered on 1 May.

We needed a few items so we shopped at the local (crowded) Walmart.

It was very rainy in New York on Tuesday so the fair-weather protesters were a no-show. No blocked tunnels or bridges.

I walked past the main gathering point, Bryant Park, on my way to work. About 50 people. There were more press trucks lined up along 40th Street.

Further up, there was a picket line in front of the News Corp building (FoxNews). Fun chanting going on in the drizzle.

One guy in the park was waving a Chinese flag. Didn’t look like the ambassador though!

Other big actions are planned for the West Coast, including a large march in the San Francisco Bay area. Organizers said a plan to shut down the Golden Gate Bridge has been scrapped.

Well since I had to drive south across the GGB yesterday for WORK, I went down the night before so as not to deal with these idiots, so their actions resulted in a little more capitalism in action, ie dinner out, hotel room, etc. On the other hand, the GGB was occupied by about 200 cops, so there is a ton of extra govt spending for NOTHING. .

I think I only first saw something about it on the main DU forums yesterday. If it had that low visibility on a site like DU that should be ideal for the message, I suspect the action won't get to the level that can be called a 'general strike'.
