I don’t think that Zimmerman is innocent either. I still don’t understand this whole story. Did Zimmerman even live in that neighborhood. I KNOW for a fact that if I was told to “stand down” by the 911 operator, I would have. So what if the kid was walking through a neighborhood. The police were on their way and could have taken care of it.

Good Lord, have you read anything about this case or do you just fantasize? Yes it was his neighborhood, he was the head of the watch for Pete’s sake. The operator didn’t tell him to “stand down” they said they’d prefer he not follow Martin to which Zimmerman replied “OKAY”. It is perhaps at that time that Zimmerman headed back to his vehicle.
People who have no knowledge of the few available facts should really not speculate on this case!

Yeah. He lived in the neighborhood. It has only been covered in the news reports about a million times. With maps, even.
The 911 operator did not “tell him to stand down”. Zimmerman was aked if he was following the subject. He replied in the affirmative, and was told “ We don’t need you to do that”, to which Zimmerman replied “OK”.
Making stuff up doesn’t help clarify the situation.

Mr. Zimmerman and his wife are residents and own a home there. Young Mr. Martin was visiting his father at his girlfriend’s house, as he was suspended from school in Miami. It was NOT a 911 operator, it was the non-emergency police dispatcher, not a sworn law enforcement official, and he was not told to “stand down” but it was suggested “we don’t need you to do that” at which time he said “okay.” He says that Trayvon doubled back on him, sucker-punched him so that he fell to the ground and then proceeded to beat his head into the pavement. Before he could be killed by the larger, taller and more athletic Mr. Martin, he shot him. There is also some talk that there was a struggle over the pistol.

911 did NOT tell Z to “stand down”.

Travon was casing the complex. In the rain.

Go read some threads on the subject already.

It is one thing to stand down if you are not threatened, but Martin attacked him—then you have no choice. If Martin managed to get his gun, he probably would have killed him, and then you would never have heard about this in the media.

If you don't understand the story, why opine as to Mr. Zimmerman's guilt or innocence? My guess is that you have become stupid from watching the MSM.

At this point that's deliberate on your part. There's a wealth of information out there if you go dig for it.

There is much more information available now. Yes, Zimmerman lived in the neighborhood. And “no”, the police would not get there in time, as they had not arrived in time during repeated breakins and other incidents in the nighborhood. One of Zimmerman’s neighbor’s - a stay at home Mom with an infant - was at home, in the house, in broad daylight when her house was broken into. She locked herself in a bedroom with the baby and called the police. The police arrive too late to catch anyone. The criminals were unplugging and disconnecting the TV and other valuables while this woman trembled in fear in her own home. In this case, Zimmerman went to the woman, gave her contact information so she would have someone to call (Zimmerman’s wife) and replaced the lock for the sliding glass door (the point of entry) with something more effective. This is just one of many incidents and the police never arrived in time.

The neighborhood is a gated community for first-time home buyers, a mix of white, black and hispanic. When the economy crashed, there were foreclosures and homes being rented out to people who did not care about the neighborhood and some of whom may have been actually committing the crimes. The whole neighborhood was in an uproar - people were very frightened.

Zimmerman reacted to Trayvon because that is exactly what he and the neighbors had been seeing - young black men casing the neighborhood just prior to a break-in occuring. Zimmerman followed because in all the previous incidents the police always arrived too late and in only one incident had the police been able to recover any of the property stolen.

A black woman, a neighbor, interviewed by the press said “lets look at the elephant in the roome - it was young black men committing these crimes”.

This neighborhood had learned the hard way that you cannot expect the police to arrive in time to save you.

Wow. Just wow. You decided he's not innocent but you don't understand? Do you think that is fair?

If you listen to the recorded phone conversation, he *did* stand down. You could hear him running, clearly enough that it’s obvious that’s WHY the operator asked him if he was pursuing. Zimmerman answered that he was. The operator then told him not to. And suddenly his breathing and footstep pace go to normal.

Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt. In your case it would be type.

Run along now, your village is looking for you.

He did stand down!!!!!!!!!! The media clipped the voice tape of the call. After being told "you do not have to do that" he replied okay. The media cut the "okay" from the recording.

Per Zimmerman he walked back toward his car and was attached from behind.
