Dodgers pitcher Joe Black, who was black, was the NL Rookie of the Year in 1952. But you’re right, most famous Blacks have been white (such as Congresswoman Diane Black, and late Supreme Court Justice (and FDR’s favorite Klansman) Hugo Black).
IDan Blue is the NC Democrat politician, right? Probably the second most famous Blue after Vida.
Back in the 1920s, there was an AL first baseman named Lu Blue. His given name was Luzerne; he probably had a sister named Lackawanna.
And Conrad Black.
Yeah Blue was the NC House Speaker. He lost to Bowles in the rat Senate primary in 2002 and is now in the State Senate. I wouldn’t have remembered him if not for his name. He and Vida Blue were the only people with that surname I’d ever heard of. I see there is an NHL goalie named John Blue though.
Better Lackawanna than Susquehanna!
