Current TV said Friday afternoon that it had terminated the contract of its lead anchor Keith Olbermann, scarcely one year after he was hired to reboot the fledgling channel in his progressive political image.
Mr. Olbermann did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Current indicated that he had failed to honor the terms of his five-year, $50 million contract, giving the channel the right to terminate it.
In a letter to viewers, the channel said Friday, We created Current to give voice to those Americans who refuse to rely on corporate-controlled media and are seeking an authentic progressive outlet. We are more committed to those goals today than ever before. Current was also founded on the values of respect, openness, collegiality, and loyalty to our viewers. Unfortunately these values are no longer reflected in our relationship with Keith Olbermann and we have ended it.

I bet it had something to do with his compensation. These limousine liberals want socialism for everyone else, greedy capitalism for themselves.
Oprah's network? Might be a step up in ratings from Rosie.
Al-Jazeera? Iranian/North Korean/Cuban/Syrian state media?
My guess is HuffPo.
The man is simply unwatchable, even if you are a commie lib.
Hosting Family Feud?
And Current TV replaces Olbermann with that grunge baby, Spitzer. ugh
I see a “perfessor” job at some worthless and goofy “journalism” school in his future. He’ll probably teach a class on how to keep a straight face supporting the “occupy” fleabaggers while making 10 million dollars a year for 5 years.
Dear Current TV,
Contrary to your opinion about being an alternative to “corporate-controlled media,” I’d like to point out that Current TV is a corporation, which would, in fact, make Current TV “corporate-controlled media.”
Just because you produce on the cheap, have no expensive talent, and nobody watches you doesn’t change that fact.
Let’s face it—having a business model for a TV station for people who think MSNBC isn’t loony-left-wing-enough is no way to run a business.
Just where do you go from Current TV?
I hear Kim Jong Eun is hiring in Pyongyang...
Note that he didn’t fulfill the contract terms, thus he didn’t get the $50 million. Probably nowhere near 1/5th of it even...
FIRED.

Politics, probably.
Maybe Dan Rather is looking for an intern.
I’m sure the University of Chicago can find a position for either in Davey Axelrod’s Institute for Corrupting Government or, maybe, starting an Institute on Preserving Honesty in Media for the Internet Age.
I wonder who he raped?
New York Slimes, assuming, he can plagiarize.
Al Gore and Eliot Spitzer together. The jokes almost write themselves. Maybe they can go get a massage together and ask for a little extra.
Shortwave radio?
If he had half a brain, he'd try to get back into sports broadcasting. But, given his abrasive personality, he'd probably have to settle for being a local sports anchor somewhere.
