In light of Trayvon Martins death, Seminole State College has expelled George Zimmerman, the man who shot Martin. The college released a statement Thursday addressing the high-profile controversy citing student safety as the sole reason.
The statement said:
Due to the highly charged and high-profile controversy involving this student, Seminole State has taken the unusual but necessary step this week to withdraw Mr. Zimmerman from enrollment. [...] This decision is based solely on our responsibility to provide for the safety of our students on campus as well as for Mr. Zimmerman.
The Orlando Sentinel reports Zimmerman was working toward an Associate in Arts degree:
Zimmerman, 28, first enrolled at the college in 2003 and was working toward a vocational certificate to become an insurance agent. He re-enrolled in 2009 and was working toward an Associate in Arts degree in a general studies program, according to the college.
No such person named dude, except maybe you on this site. :)
Clearly you didn’t bother to read my post. Try again.
Of course I do. However, I’ve argued this to death and I don’t have any real interest in debating the matter further in this thread. If you want to PM me, I’d be happy to explain my reasoning as to why I don’t consider Mr. Zimmerman to be the victim in this instance.
What does the police report say as far as eyewitness accounts go? Where does it say Zimmerman was knocked to the ground? Maybe Zimmerman, being the aggressor, got out, gave chase, grabbed the guy’s shirt and they both tumbled and it turned into a struggle.
In any case, a stranger was pursuing a kid minding his own business so any self-defense would have been on the part of Trayvon, not Zimmerman.
Oh, and last I checked, 17 is still a kid in America.
Someone remind me. What country is this?
Russia, without the charm.
A college can’t expect to be able to protect Zimmerman or others if some of folks decide to make a hit on the man while he is on campus.
This makes sense to me.
See post #28.

Current photos of Martin. Or at least more recent. From his FB, they were scrubbed.
