First, why would he say anything about what he would do about Porn. It is up to the courts and congress. If he wants to sign a bill that congress has passed and make it law thats great, but for goodness sake stop talking about stuff you can't do anything about as president.
We all want a conservative president, even one who has the values of Rick Santorum but we also need someone smart enough to know when to shut his mouth.
All these social remarks that everyone already knows Santorums position on has sunk him. If he doesn't do really well in Illinois he is finished and it is not looking good now, Rick is doing everything he can to make sure Romney is the nominee. He is throwing this away, why? He can't be stupid. I just fail to believe that someone who has finished law school can be stupid. The only place Newt could have done well is the South and Santorum has taken that away from him, he has made sure that all we get is Mitt Romney.
Early on there were accusations that Santorum was only in it to split votes and keep any of the other challengers from getting more votes than Romney, I'm starting to wonder if some of these people knew what they were talking about.
I'm starting to get a sinking feeling.
Can Romney beat Obama? I think my dog could beat Obama. We had a chance to have a really conservative president. Had! Way to go Rick.
“””I just fail to believe that someone who has finished law school can be stupid. “””
I rise to a point of order,,,
Me too. Nikki Hailey, Christine O"Donnell & Anne Coulter in for Romney & now Rick Santorum seemingly falling on his sword; Mitt really seems to have covered his bases here.
I know of a few lawyers who are, in fact, stupid. It’s amazing they have not yet been disbarred. Then there are the hordes of lawyers of mediocre intelligence.
I don’t think it’s all that surprising that he continues to make remarks that let the media turn him into some sort of christian ayatollah caricature. He did lose his reelection campaign which he should have been able to win.
As one of the posters above mentioned, the crop of candidates is depressing. Beating Obama isn’t going to be a cakewalk either. He is going to have fundraising advantage and by the time the candidate is selected there’s not going to be much time left. He has the votes of the deadbeats, brainless, and dogooders. He can count on at least 95% of the black vote.
You are correct, it *is* up to congress and the courts to decide on the laws. They have done so, and the executive is not enforcing them.
Santorum is absolutely correct to say that he will enforce the laws congress has passed, unless an until (barring rare times when an executive check would make acting otherwise the right thing to do) the courts rule against them. He should be calling for impeachment for O’s failure to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed (USC Art II, section 3), but that won’t happen.
