ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT: We Do Pay Taxes, And The Government Knows Exactly Who We Are
Business Insider ^ | Mar. 16, 2012 | Jana Kasperkevic

It's a myth that illegal immigrants don't pay taxes, says Dulce Guerroro, a self-confessed illegal immigrant living in Mableton, Georgia.

Guerrero's whole family is undocumented, except for her 13-year old younger brother, who was born in the U.S. and is a U.S. citizen. She says that they all work and pay taxes through their Internal Revenue System (IRS) issued Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs).

"People always, always point out that we don't pay taxes, which is a complete lie," Guerrero told Business Insider.

"We have a government issued tax ID number. So the government knows very well who we are. They know very well where we live and they have all of our information. I am sure if they ever wanted to pick us up, since they have our tax ID number, they have our information. We pay taxes just like everyone else."

I NEVER go to the mall but went once at Christmas time with a friend. In and out, one store stop but the store was in the middle of the mall.
The mall was full of nothing but Mexican families and youngish Mexican girls.......all carrying numerous bags from different stores, all speaking Spanish.
I told my friend......looks like the only ones with money are the illegals.

Some pay -and file- with TINs. More use false/stolen numbers so any withholdings are held in suspense accounts. Free money for the feds.

But the the part that should curl everyone’s hair is how much they pull out with Child Tax Credits.....
“a report of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) dated July 7, 2011, entitled “Individuals Who Are Not Authorized to Work in the United States Were Paid $4.2 Billion in Refundable Credits.”2 The $4.2 billion is entirely the product of the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) for the 2010 tax processing year.”

According to the IRS:

Hiring Employees

If you hire employees there is information that you need to secure for your records and forms that you must complete.

Eligibility to Work in the United States

You must verify that each new employee is legally eligible to work in the United States. Have the employees you hire fill out Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification (PDF).

Employee's Social Security Number (SSN)

You are required to get each employee's name and Social Security Number (SSN) and to enter them on Form W-2. (This requirement also applies to resident and nonresident alien employees.) You should ask your employee to show you his or her social security card. The employee may show the card if it is available. You may, but are not required to, photocopy the social security card if the employee provides it. Record each new employee's name and social security number from his or her social security card. Any employee without a social security card should apply for one using Form SS-5, Application for Social Security Card (PDF). The Social Security Administration (SSA) offers social security number (SSN) verification and quick access to relevant forms and publications.

Do not accept an ITIN in place of an SSN for employee identification or for work. An ITIN is only available to resident and nonresident aliens who are not eligible for U.S. employment and need identification for other tax purposes. You can identify an ITIN because it is a 9-digit number, beginning with the number "9" and is formatted like an SSN (NNN-NN-NNN).

Note: An individual with an ITIN who later becomes eligible to work in the United States must obtain an SSN.

So, the IRS points out the I-9 requirement along with the fact that it's easy to tell an ITIN from an SSN. But that's where it ends.

“My head explodes when I see these idiots dressed as the statue of Liberty on the street corner to advertise their business which encourages these illegals to file. “

You know I’ve seen these spring up in Orange County in recent years and I couldn’t figure out why there were suddenly so many store front tax services near the ever expanding barrio. You’ve answered that question.

Illegals really do have more free cash to spend than you do. Your impression was accurate.
