“but the Feds have not yet confiscated our guns. As long as the citizenry is armed, we have a chance.”
Just wait for Barry part II....
But really, the idea that we can protect ourselves from the military is naive. I have a fervent hope that the “Oathkeepers” ideas will protect us however, the best weaponry we have as citizens is no match for the Police State as it stands. Yes, we have high powered hunting rifles, shotguns, handguns, etc. But the cold reality is that we are no match for a determined tyranny. In 1936 (I believe) when the Germans were disarmed the populace had weapons closely equal to the police/army. Today, our arms are based on 100 year old technology.
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the American Republic and its Sister states of Individual Liberty lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, This was their finest hour!
Paraphrased from W. Churchill
What really weighted down German society at the time wasn't even inflation but the forced reparations. What that meant was that no small businessman whose livelihood depended on an export business could ever make a profit ~ and here we're not talking about big time world class exports but things as simple as selling a pail of milk to a neighboring valley in France that'd been buying it for the last 1000 years to make cheese.
Those people were ripe for the Nazi takeover that came AFTER Hitler had personally taken over and disbanded the SA (the SA were the marching morons in the streets ~ mostly unemployed young men with nothing to do and having an inordinate interest in tan uniforms and red armbands).
Hitler solved their unemployment problems and infiltrated them into the existing army, albeit not as a formal "army" since that would violate the Allied restrictions on German rearmament.
He had some smart guys behind him ~ like Mitt and the Mitbots ~ not like Obama and the Obots. If anything Obama is more like Ernst Röhm who was later executed by Hitler.
for later
Save for later reading.

CCRKBA Blasts Emanuel’s Proposed Illinois Gun Registration Scheme
PR Newswire
BELLEVUE, Wash., Feb. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s proposal to slap law-abiding Illinois gun owners with a handgun registration mandate that includes a $65 per-gun fee is “nothing more than a maneuver to discourage gun ownership in the face of court rulings that have gone against Chicago’s stubborn gun ban mentality,” the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
Under Emanuel’s proposal, any Illinois resident purchasing a handgun would be hit with the $65 registration requirement, which is over and above current statutory requirements that include possession of a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card.
Thanks. Great Post.
Otto von Bismarck (a 19th century German politician) is viewed more correctly as the individual most responsible for the development of German social security, disability insurance and medical insurance (for the broad masses).
Lots of the things that run counter to Conservative thought and interest occurred in Germany long before Hitler. If you want to use those things in a debate as examples of inappropriate government intrusion into what should be private activity that's OK, but you can't credit Hitler with every darned thing.
If you want to find the roots of modern government financial misbehavior you might well look to Abraham Lincoln and the Credit Moblier! There you are, a former railroad lawyer is now President and what is he doing? Well, he's shoveling government money to guys who build railroads. Johnson and then Grant followed up on that.
Thanks. That list can’t be posted or read often enough.
The first time the population at large noticed this was the ban on smoking. This was, of course, the very first thing the Nazis did, so long ago.
Every President since then has either continued this process whole cloth or pushed pieces - including the conservative “hero”, Reagan.
Ozero is just completing the process. Move along.
Guantánamo residents would include virtually all members of the Tea Party whom the TSA could find, as well as all religious leaders who opposed the government. The states would be subjected to Gleichschaltung, or "coordination," and every state, including Texas, Utah and Idaho would have a governor like Jerry Brown and a legislature like California's.
We're not there yet, but it's no longer unthinkable.
NAZI BUMP
Some really good observations. How many know that the civil war was fought over state’s rights (in Lincoln’s words ‘to preserve the union’) not over slavery?
That seems to have been felt to be quite convenient by German state and local authorities ~ the very sort of behavior we saw with mayors' coddling "Occupy.....".
Imagine, Hizhonor, Mayor of Nyork, Bloomberg, behaving just like the mayor of Frankfort (e.g.) during the Weimar Republic period. Oh, my goodness!
Still, so expected, and so typical.
Contrary to the false belief of so many modern people, Hitler and his Nazi party didn't walk into a vacuum all by themselves. That's just the street theatre part. They took over a nation given to brutal solutions to minor issues ~ and fit right into the parts prepared for them.
Thanks
“How many know that the civil war was fought over states rights (in Lincolns words to preserve the union) not over slavery?”
A lot of blacks seem to know that; they don’t hold Lincoln in high regard (after all, he said he would leave slavery legal if it meant preserving the Union).
The nazi rise to power was anything but meteoric or direct which makes it pretty confusing due to the shifting alliances that occurred.
I guess that’s why I promote “The Rise” so much. It touches on the various groups and their parts without getting too bogged down in details that would bore most viewers.
“This is not the story of how Hitler siezed power
Its the story of how the German people gave it to him.”
