Tehran terror
Your report "Inside Iran" (15 September) covered many important issues, but neglected one of the most fundamental: the racist, Persian-supremacist character of the Tehran regime and its neocolonial subjugation of the country's national minorities, especially the Kurds, Arabs, Balochs and Azeris.

Iran's Ethnic Azeris And The Language Question
Jul 19, 2010 - By Abbas Djavadi
Call it discrimination or even chauvinism: Millions of Iran's ethnic Azeris have no right of education in their mother tongue. But, surprisingly, it appears the majority of them don't care much about this inequality.

South Azerbaijan: Azerbaijan People's Government (Dec. 1945 - Dec. 1946)

If I remember correctly, Persians can be hostile to Azeris because of their mixed identity as both Turkic and Iranian peoples.
Just another attempt to distract Iranians from the government’s oppression.
The Iranians are definitely in the lead.
Actually, the Iranians, along with certain North Indian groups are the original “Aryans”. This is most of the languages spoken from India to England, are part of the “Indo-Aryan” Language group.
So, so far as their being Aryan is concerned, theyre telling the truth.
Yes. But not the Nazi mythical aryans.
Racially there aren’t many original or pure “Aryans” tribes left in Iran. Remember Iran has been invaded a few times since the fall of the Sassanid Empire in early 7th C. AD. First by bedo Arabs, then Mongols, and later various Turkic tribes. Throughout the centuries since then there has been intermarriage across races and ethnic grps.
Zoroastrian-Iranians currently living in Iran (in Kerman & Yazd provinces) can be considered mostly purer Aryans. Other than that, many ethnic grps in Iran are originally “Iranic” (belong to various Aryan tribes, linguistically & racially). They include: Kurds, Persians, original Azeris, Balouchis, people from pronvinces such as Gorgan, Mazandaran & Gilan (around the Caspian sea), and so on.
Btw, the supreme leader Ali Khamenei is an Azeri himself. A fact that many overlook or are not aware of.
The point is that the IRI is an Islamo-Fascist regime, and the ideology they subscribe to is most definitely Arabic & of course Islamic. All Shia 12er imam were true “black” Arabs too, born & bred in either Iraq or today’s S. Arabia - (black refers to the color of Islam). Contrary to popular belief “green” is Not the original color of Islam.
I am all against the Islamofascist regime in Iran & its treatment of ethnic AND religious minorities to which my mother’s relatives currently living in Iran belong. Btw, my relatives speak both farsi (official language of Iran) and Zoroastrian-Dari (an old dialect of the Persian “farsi” language).
However, two of the links you have posted in “The Truth” section of the main post seem to be from those who belong to Separatist Movements or sympathize with them. So, I would question some of their statements, as well as their exaggerations.
Generally speaking, Racism is a term that is often applied very loosely. Not only in or regarding Iran, but also in the West & the US.
>>>”Call it discrimination or even chauvinism: Millions of Iran’s ethnic Azeris have no right of education in their mother tongue. But, surprisingly, it appears the majority of them don’t care much about this inequality.”<<<
Personally, I believe in having the “right of education in one’s mother tongue”. But, the issue here is not simply education.
An important reason why farsi (mainstream Persian language spoken in Iran) was enforced as the official language, a very long time before the mullahs’ regime took over, was to ensure that Iranians are educated in & use a commonly understood, spoken & written language, and that various ethnic grps in Iran can readily & easily communicate w/ one another. Just as English is the official language of the US, not Latin, German, French, Gaelic, or Pidgin English, regardless of various races living in the US.
Similar to the US, Iran consists of many different ethnic grps. Although most are “Iranic” by race, each grp has its own dialect (most belonging to Indo-European & Indo-Iranian grp of languages), which most ethnic grps know how to speak among themselves & are free to do so.
Iran also has a very high overall literacy rate (approx 86%) and a rather high percentage of people who have tertiary education, women & men. This is compared to approx. 68% overall literacy rate in the moslem world, including the ME or N. Africa region. Therefore, learning how to speak & write Farsi is absolutely essential.
However, what is Not essential is discriminating against people for provision of education, employment & housing unless they are “officially” Shia moslems, which IRI does. Equally, not allowing religious or ethnic minorities to have their own programs (particularly religious education & discussion w/ others in public e.g. on tv or radio, etc..) is another form of discrimination, which IRI imposes.
Suffice it to say that IRI discriminates against any person or grp (using whatever excuse) when it feels threatened. A reason IRI treats the mentioned ethnic grps badly is because the strongest, most active, ongoing resistance against IRI has been by them . But, I can tell you that this isn’t about “Persian or Aryan chauvinism or racism”. If anything IRI is all about Islamo-Fascism (politics & religion); that’s the ideology & way of life they are imposing on most people in Iran regardless of ethnicity.
By the same token & in my experience, these Separatists & their sympathizers often have a massive chip on their shoulder, and personally I don’t support them any more than I support IRI. In fact, nor do most of their own people.
2. the Azeris are by blood nearly purely Irani, but they speak a Turkic language
