From the somewhat guilt filled comforts of Greece, I have been thinking about what I learned from the recent Cairo SHTF experience. I am not putting myself forth as an expert of any sort and, frankly, many or even most items on the list below might be flat out wrong….who the hell knows. We were in Cairo from Jan 25th until late Feb 3rd when the neighborhood gunfire became full-auto and regularly occurring. At that point, we decided that Friday prayers (the next day) might not yield a pleasant experience. We had no way of knowing that we had already seen the worst.

BTW, I can't even find on the SHTF website where they use the word you posted. There are some, like you, who use in their posts but the blog doesn't use the word.

That's what a-holes exist for, anusel12. You've said and spelled it out several times on this thread, why is that?
What you don’t seem to understand, is that the purpose has nothing to do with swear words existing, or being used among individuals.
My issue, that I assumed would interest all real conservatives, is in preventing the renaming of the movement with the word, to stop the practice of the movements public literature becoming course, ugly and full of swearing, we did manage to get by with normal, professional, adult language for at least 40 years or so of the survivalist movement.
Some of you keep confusing an effort to nip in the bud, the formal usage of it in our movements public identity, public naming, and public writings, with trying to stop individuals and their own personal language.
They are totally different things, I don’t know why the long quote from the article (post1) was pulled, but it may have been that it wasn’t appropriate language for FR, which means that it wasn’t appropriate language for an article that we all need to make hard copies of and show to our kids and families.
As conservatives and activists, let’s bring this up to authors, and writers.

In-the-bud for the phrase “SHTF” was at least 20-30 years ago.
Choose your battles wisely.
Show me that literature, I was subscribing to survivalist magazines and buying books 20 and 30 years ago and more, I have a small collection of survival pamphlets and a larger collection of prepper related and/or survivalist books and magazines going back to 1961, I don’t recall them writing like we see in this current article and others like it.
Second that...with a no kidding what's taking so frigging long, added for good measure.

We’re going to have to agree to disagree here.
I totally urge you, if that is your wish, to become activist to those publishers/writers/bloggers etc to discontinue using the term ;SHTF.
And for what it’s worth, I really don’t see much use of the term SHTF. In fact, what I do see on occasion , is that it’s posted right here on FR with Kart’s ping list, which yes, I am part of.
I remember hearing the term used back in the 70’s so it’s not new. Maybe used in certain “circles” or “Cliques”????
I was a little kid back then so I didn’t get into all of this until just a few years ago. Oh gosh, I just aged myself GULP ~
What is stopping you from redacting or changing some of the “language” used in articles when you want to share them or print them off for friends and family.
I mean, all ya gotta do is copy and paste into a word doc or email and change the SHTF into “prepper” or whatever word ya want.
