Insider Advantage also has a new poll out today placing Newt up BIG already (+8.8%) in Florida, this coming on the heels of an interesting Gallup finding: 'unelectable' Gingrich has closed to a statistical dead-heat in a November Obama matchup (!). This would be the same Gallup polling organization who's editor-in-chief (Frank Newport) saw Romney's support nationally 'collapsing' even before his demoralizing SC spanking.
Others who make a living handicapping (and wagering upon) these things -like InTrade- have stock in a Gingrich victory in Florida soaring, now standing at 55%.
As you've probably heard by know, Romney has chosen to go
full scorched-earth on Gingrich in Florida, and already has surrogates Chris 'Krispy Kreme' Christie and Tim 'Dull as Dishwater' Pawlenty doing some of his dirty work. But Mittens himself seems dour and embittered in the wake of South Carolina... like it's somebody else's fault he got his butt handed to him. He also seems lost when unable to simply purchase or order what he wants... Mittens has spent $7M on (mostly negative) media in Florida, and this is the result he's getting- ouch.
As for the much-ballyhooed Romney campaign organisation, they stunk it up in SC, and now the Florida staff is said to be freaking-out as he continues to slide in most any poll you care to look at. After being taken for granted and manipulated by the GOP old-guard for the last couple years, the TEA Party movement is finding it's inner Chuck Norris and standing-up for the right to choose a nominee who represents our conservative values... not those of a spoiled, ossified DC elite.
The hollow, manufactured inevitability argument for Romney now seems dead-in-the-water, as caustic negative attacks upon the former House Speaker have for the most part backfired... serious momentum on the side of Team Gingrich has this backer expecting a continued surge in poll numbers in the coming days, most likely beginning with tonight's Tampa debate.

Thanks for this report! And a cool writing style to go with it—

It’ll be interesting to see how many of the RINO Romney supporters and news media types back Obama over Gingrich.

I saw those poll results showing Newt in a virtual dead heat with Obama and just had to laugh at all the talking heads who keep telling us that Newt can't defeat Obama.
Shades of Reagan. I think that, if Newt is the nominee, we are going to witness another landslide like 1980. People are desperate to vote against Obama if they are given a good enough reason to do so. Newt is that reason.

I think if Romney loses the nomination, a fuming Ann Coulter just might pull the lever for Obama.

Let her. We already saw Colin Powell's "conservatism" at work. Let all these shills be exposed. I'm sick of Coulter. Apparently her hangout with the GLAD crowd has messed up her mind.

I just listened to Romney on Fox News trying to resurrect Newt receiving 1.6 million from Fannie/Freddie issue. He was so freaking obviously whining. He sounded like the class tattletale...Sidney Sawyer snitching on Tom to Aunt Polly.
Now, we have Brit Hume, a known Romney supporter, coming on to “analyze” the interview just finished with his pal, Mitt Romney.
Fox News: We Romney, We Decide
The Romney News Network.
BTW, why does a half billionaire leave a Crony Capitalist firm and spend millions to win the presidency, when it only pays a couple hundred thousand a year? Why does it make me nervous that Bain wants the presidency so badly that they’ve been running to get it for nearly a decade?

For those of us old enough to remember 1980 it didn't turn into a landslide until very late in the process. But I agree with you that this could be very similar year. There were lots of doubts about Reagan. The press hated him. The RINO blue bloods had done everything possible to try to stop him. There was talk about him having been divorced.
It was the blow up in the middle east that killed any chance Carter had. And likewise if things heat up over in Iran Obama is equally doomed.

This is Hillary /Obama 2008 all over again..except on the Republican side. Once actual voting began, the “inevitable” and the long establishment favorite started to crumble.

If Newt is the nominee, he should ban all former Romney staffers from his campaign. They would be the enemy within.

“Moderates” like Romney just can’t seem to understand why everybody doesn’t love them, except a few extremists at the margins. After all, they’re “right in the middle”, all things to all people, and willing to compromise without letting little things like liberty and free enterprise get in the way.

When I checked Intrade this morning (probably 8 AM EST), the wager was real close to 50-50. Newt had a slight advantage (betting on his side cost more than betting on Romney), but rounding to whole percentage points was 50-50.
I checked just now -- 59-42 in favor of Newt. Hahahahaha.

They are already showing their hand by supporting Romney. I expect most of them will attempt to have it both ways, and seek redemption by grudgingly supporting Newt, or at least bashing Obama.
Current events with an open field of GOP choices is a better measure of their position, compared with what they say after a GOP nominee has been named.

Those at the very top have to know it's a scam built on a historical fallacy, and the organiztion wants so very badly to be considered mainstream and not a just cult created by a con man that uses a family focus to lure people in.
