Newt is the only person on stage who can rip Romney a new one and make Obama cower in fear! Go Newt!

Well if Iowa and this NH poll have anything to say about it. The result is clear.

Agreed. Perry must leave first. he’ll probably wait till South Carolina. Bachmann did a good job of leaving when she saw she had no chance. Well then after South Carolina we will have to see where Gingrich and Santorum fall. Then one must step out. To get one over the top. It is all about beating Romney now.

While my inclination is the same as yours, I do not think either Newt or Santorum should yield at this point. Let's wait for two or three primaries, and at that point one of them should accept the writing on the wall and endorse the other not-Romney. I don't believe we have forever to decide, but with the survival of America as a free country dependent on removing Obama and replacing him with the person most able to repeal Obama's entire legacy, we should take enough time to compare the two in at least a few states.

Many of Santorum’s voters would more likely remain home than vote for Newt or Mitt. Many of Newt’s followers seem ready to vote for ORomney than vote for Santorum. How will this help?

If Newt had the appeal his supporters believe he has, he would have closed the deal already. Just as a majority will not vote for Romney, there is a large number, perhaps a majority, that will not support Gingrich. Look to recent weeks. Gingrich was on top, giving everyone the opportunity to support him as the best alternative to Romney. He couldn’t close the deal. People have memories.

Santorum is the best of both worlds. He has close to Gingrich's debate skills but Romney's hair and schlong control ability. Gingrich should fade away and offer to write speeches, campaign material and debate coach Rick Santorum.

The only real knocks on Santorum is that he stupidly endorsed Arlen Specter 8 years ago at the behest of Bush II and Karl Rove and was badly beaten in his Senate re-election bid 6 years ago.

You can make a much longer list of Gingrich's negatives since that time.

I get the feeling Perry and Huntsman are not dropping out until maybe June?

Yes, McLame (33%) hijacked it from Huck (30%) & Thompson (15%) - the prohibitive favs among conservatives in SC, the decider state.

And now Willard (30%) is scheming to do the same versus Newt (23%), Santorum (19%), and Perry (5%) - the evangelical favs by far and away.

“Many of Santorum’s voters would more likely remain home than vote for Newt or Mitt.”

I’m not too sure about that. I prefer Santorum but also like Gingrich. I took issue with Newt on that Pelosi “we can solve it commercial” but I realize nobody is perfect and believe he’s a conservative.

I would vote for either of them.

If a person cannot convince conservatives to choose him over Mitt Romney in the primary, how can a person convince the rest of idiot filled America to choose him over Obama?

I’ll leave it to you to decide which of the two I am talking about.

This is the meme being perpetuated by the media and continuously re-posted here.

I've understood that in order to win the Republican nomination, a candidate is required to win 1144 delegates. How is this accomplished with only three states?

One of the qualities of our primary system is competition, in order to put forth the one who best represents the majority of voters. At some point, this campaign will likely be narrowed to two candidates, likely one Conservative and one Moderate.

There's still plenty of time, and I don't believe that most supporters of Gingrich or Santorum are going to flip to Romney supporters, unless the establishment and their media are successful in convincing enough voters that Romney is inevitable (in which case there will be a Third Party candidate).

Regardless of what the establishment/media says, with all his media people and money, Romney still doesn't poll over 30%. How that translates to a winning candidate is a mystery to me.

Relax. Conservatives will still be determining the eventual nominee.

Newt is unelectable.

He is a self identified progressive republican who is a serial adulterer.

Newt, Romney and probably perry are all non-starters for MOST conservatives...All three will lose badly in the general election against Obama.

Santorum and Perry are basically third party canidates at this point. A vote for either one of them is basically a vote for Mitt!

Santorum will never win the nomination, and I’ve thought long and hard about this: I won’t vote for Romney in November.
If the Dems want Obama and the GOP wants Romney, the nation is doomed. Might as well get it over with, and Obama will do it quicker.

Ron Paul needs to get gone; Perry, Huntsman. Let the rest simmer for a while. These three just use up too much air.
