The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced today that the Department of Defense will begin allowing Muslim and Sikh students who wear an Islamic head scarf (hijab) or a turban to participate in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC).
We welcome the fact that Muslim and Sikh students nationwide will now be able to participate fully in JROTC leadership activities while maintaining their religious beliefs and practices, said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.
In October, the Washington-based Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization wrote to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta after a 14-year-old Muslim student at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn., was forced to transfer out of a JROTC class when her commanding officers told her she could not wear hijab while marching in the September homecoming parade.
CAIR requested constitutionally-protected religious accommodations for the girl and for future Muslim JROTC participants.
In a Dec. 19 letter sent to CAIR, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Larry Stubblefield wrote:
I have been asked to respond on behalf of the Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta to your October 13, 2011 letter concerning Miss Demin Zawitys request to wear a religious head covering (hijab) while participating in an Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) event at Ravenwood High School.

CAIR is a terrorist front group. We need to sieze their assets and zip-tie their leadership before throwing them off the pier.
Ain't a handful of them worth a half bucket of warm spit.
But I do respect officers that made it through the maze. I actually got to salute a 3rd Lt. once (a long time ago, in a land far away) I also accidentally saluted a Colour Sergeant. That got corrected quickly.

Changes need to be made..its worse than 1860..and will be bloodier..
Pray for America.
I want to wear a pancake on my head because my religion is food. Will they let me do it?
There's gonna be a pile of dead Islamic ladies once the Muzzie shrapnel starts a-flyin'.
Good riddance! At the end Islam is a religion of pieces....
Drip, drip, drip, drip, drip.......
Soooo,
YOu’re saying obammy should be zip tied and thrown off a pier?
Appeasement of a murderous cult in the name of political correctness. This garbage needs to be eradicated from the earth. islam is not a religion. It is a social, moral, political, economic construct that sprang from the mad rantings of a deranged pseudo-prophet over 1400 years ago. It has been at war with civilization ever since. We are now caught up in the latest escalation of that war.
It is a war we dare not lose.
That costume is just that. It is not required by their religion. That’s a load of cr**.
passing the PT and swim test in burqas ought to be real speshul
But it may up recruiting when all those muslim women have to bring a male relative to avoid being unchaperoned on the battlefield
The American military (yes, JRROTC members too) wear something known as a uniform. It is called that because everyone is supposed to be dressed alike. I don’t recall any provisions ever made to allow Jewish members to wear yarmulkes. If one joins the military from an urban gang, they have to forgo their gang ‘colors’ and wear the prescribed uniform. Why is one group allowed to segregate themselves and allowed to wear something that is individualistic - not uniform? Additionally, military members in predominately Muslim countries wear military uniforms without religious headgear.
Pathetic!!!!!!!
My question is then are they going to be allowed to wear this stuff in the real military also? A uniform is a uniform. Thats the whole idea. You add to it. What if the jews need to wear a yamulka? What if the christians need to sew a large cross on their uniform? I wonder if that will be allowed? Thats a rhetorical question. Obviously the answer is no way.
