she is as ideological and consistent as Ron Paul but with a similar record of legislative achievements: zero.

Look at what passes for success in DC these days. John McCain, Nancy Pelosi, Lindsey Graham, Barney Frank.

Well, I just finished watching the debate and I think Bachmann won and Perry came a close second.

This was by far the best Perry debate and surprisingly, Ron Paul also did very well (not many questions on foreign policy).

Bachmann’s “Newt Romney” line was brilliant. She said that both men agree too much with Barack Obama to be effective challengers and she’s right.

The segment about marital infidelities was probably very damaging to Gingrich. Perry came down on him very hard and he was right about what he said.

At one point Steffy quoted some Pali wretch who said that Newt’s position would provide ammunition to acts of terror for years to come.
It’s like Palin’s target talk, writ large. From now on, allahu akbar means “Newt Gingrich made this happen!”
And America made 9/11 happen. Same basic argument.
Gingrich answered promptly and effectively, as if he anticipated it. “How would you know the difference?” (They were already committing regular acts of terror.) But he needs to grab this by the horns. The media is waiting hungrily for the next schoolbus to blow up, so they can link it to Newt Gingrich.

Bachmann gets herself into trouble when attacking the front-runner.

When Perry was leading, she said Guardasil causes mental retardation.

When Cain was leading, she said 9-9-9 was a VAT.

Now that Gingrich is leading, she says he wants amnesty for 11 million illegals.

Bachmann mis-truths/uninformed statements have are beneath her. I think she is smarter than this.

Santorum was a disappointment in agreeing with Romney and taking Diane Sawyer’s bait to attack Gingrich.

Perry had his best night. If he had performed like this from the beginning, he would have Gingrich’s poll numbers.

Ron Paul dithered badly on his answer to Gingrich’s Palestinian comment and made himself more irrelevant.

Romney destroyed his campaign. He admitted he would have been a career politician and his bet with Perry was stupid.

The only thing helping Newt (and whoever gets the nomination after his mouth blows up his campaign) is that Obama is in office. ABO: Anybody but Obama.

A somewhat more centrist statist like Gingrich is preferable to Obama’s leftist statism, I guess...

Bachmann - Did a very good job with her “Newt Romney” speech saying how neither are true constitutional conservatives. Unfortunately, I felt any momentum she was gaining was shot down by Santorum’s comment that she never actually achieved anything in the house, losing all of her battles. In other words, she is as ideological and consistent as Ron Paul but with a similar record of legislative achievements: zero

I learned some things before my first marriage ended in a disaterous divorce; I can be wrong and sleep in my bed or I can be right and sleep on the couch.

Michele (rhetorically) sleeps on the couch a lot.

Is it just me, or were Bachmann and Santorum trying to simultaneously take credit for things done in congress in the 90s while trying to make sure Newt (who, um, was ONLY the DAMNED SPEAKER) was part of the problem?

Newt won again. In fact, Newt has probably won every debate. Whether you agree with him or not, he takes the discussion to another level. I found myself looking up the origins of the Palestine identity. Has there ever been a candidate that has ever run that teaches you about history like Newt. Newt’s opinions have a foundation in history where the others just can’t even go there. Just think, he’s constantly winning debates over mostly like minded opponents. Imagine what he’ll do to Obama. Newt will give the nation an education and a desperate reminder why capitalism still is the better choice than socialism and absoulutely bury Obama when they meet. This burial might be just as important as actually winning the election, because the mindset of the nation has been tempted to look at socialism and if keep going down that path, we are doomed.

Newt is smart. When asked who has inspired him during the campaign, he reached out to the very conservatives giving Santorum and Perry credit. He complimented probablt a very popylar governor in owa. He helped voice a message that most of Israel and many Jews is porobaly true. He looked for some kind of limited amnesty based on a World War II selective service program to reach out to moderates. If you are a strict conservative, you may think you have all your principals in place, but the only way you can win a general election is to have everyone think like you. Whether you like it or not, there has to be some degree of moderation to attract independents and moderates. That’s just reality.

NH Union Leader Publisher McQuaid: Romney Is Getting ‘Desperate’ as Hopes Fade
Sunday, December 11, 2011 08:54 AM

By: Dave Eberhart

Although former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney appeared cool and collected during the relatively mild Republican presidential debate Saturday night as he sparred with new GOP front-runner Newt Gingrich, New Hampshire Union Leader Publisher Joseph W. McQuaid opines that Romney is indeed growing desperate — and is at least tacitly allowing his surrogates to take off the gloves.

The bar is so low for Rick Perry that if he gets through the night without getting his ____ caught in the lectern he’s had a good night.

Some of the commentary on this debate reminds me of the foolishness that goes on in children’s sports where everyone gets a trophy simply for showing up.

Perry, Bachmann, Santorum and Paul haven’t a snowball’s chance in hell of getting the nomination.

Newt is the only one that can stop Romney and wipe the floor with the incumbent Marxist turd.

That’s why I’m pulling for Newt.
