I wouldn’t leave the US, but I often fantasize about heading for a sparsely-populated area. North Dakota comes to mind.

###

I was raised in North Dakota and my parents, who are in their 80’s, still live in on their rural farm home where I grew up. It has plenty of excellent farmland to raise food. Bountiful hunting is commonplace. The oil boom has helped their economy to be one of the best in the U.S. The people are patriotic, own guns and don’t put up with law breakers. That’s where I’m going if society breaks down completely.

What would you use for fuel in the winter in a SHTF scenario there? My parents met in No Dak in the USAF, but neither is from there so they found the winter weather to be a little too intense.

Any towns you’d recommend? I’d especially like to find a place that’s not completely flat. Flat creeps me out.
