Texas
“Texas”
Exactly.

I followed your train of thought when I read this. The question is going to be not what country but what county...although Canada will be stable I am sure. Rural or exurban areas where people are self reliant and maybe not all that outwardly prosperous to begin with will probably be safe places. Aroostook, Lincoln, Washington counties in Maine all come to mind. Even Northern Connecticut and Western Massachusetts would fit the bill, as would upstate NY. I am sure no doubt we can put a long list together on this forum. I feel certain however in saying that no industrious person will ever starve in Aroostook County. The Amish who recently moved to Smyrna are really prospering as a matter of fact.
I’m staying right where I am in Michigan while everyone else rushes for the south.
And among our good neighbors to the north in Oklahoma is another good choice.
Remember, Sam Houston went there during the Civil War. He opposed that war and was not very popular in Texas at the time.
Don’t tell them to come here! They’ll have the place ruint in no time!
Jeeze now we are gonna have to build a fence on the northern western and Eastern border too!
Nope. If something like this happens we're going to blow the bridges and mine the Red River to keep y'all out.
