The author is so correct. We've beaten up on our own long enough, it's time to look at accomplishments and record. Right now I see two former governors who have a record of governing and they are Romney and Perry. Perry has the better record and so far, I see no reason to abandon him. We have an economy to recapture and Perry has shown that at least he doesn't get in the way. If he can recreate for the US the accomplishment of TX, I'll take it way over what we have right now.
Rick Perry's repeated line of trying to make DC as inconsequential in our lives as possible resonates with me.

Perry has made few strides to regain his momentum, and Romney will never get my vote. It’s Cain all the way for me.

Three former governors, with a record of governing. Three! :-)

I see no reason to abandon him (Perry).
Abandon? After his first debate, I never supported him and never will.

William F. Buckley’s encouragement was simple: Vote for the most conservative candidte WHO CAN WIN.
After all these years, I’ve found no better advice.

I’m fine with Rick Perry’s “making DC inconsequental” as far as it goes. I’m fine with Gingrich’s debating abilities and intelligence with respect to unvetted Obama.
What I am NOT fine with is the dilemma of the illegal alien problem in this country, for EITHER one! Somuchso that it is a solid deal-breaker as far as my voting for either under ANY circumstance. To me, there is no equivocation leeway on this, period.

I haven't followed Texas politics, so I am asking a question that I'm sure many FReepers would also like to know the answer:
Did Perry accomplish anything on his own in Texas? Or was Texas already set up for success when he came along, and he simply stayed out of the way and let that success continue?
I'm asking what did Perry himself do that resulted in the perceived success of Texas? Or did he simply stay out of the way and let the good times roll?
