OWS: Protesters are Being Sent to "Concentration Camps"

Concentration camps were abhorrent places where people are sent to work and die. The Nazis used them in World War II, genocidally killing six million Jews and millions of others that they considered "lesser" races. Those in the camps were barely fed, worked upwards of sixteen hours a day doing back-breaking slave labor, and were shot on the whims of their Nazi captors. Disease was rampant, people were caked in mud, and the only "showers" were where the S.S. sent people to be gassed.

And, according to Occupy Wall Street, being arrested by the police is the equivalent of being sent to a Concentration Camp. It is useless to say this, because it is already readily apparent, but those at OWS have no perspective of the past, no understanding of history, and no knowledge of the world around them.

Here are just a few disgusting examples of their horrifying stupidity.

"Concentration camps:"

God bless your grandma. I have studied WWII all of my life, and I am still amazed at what it took for a person to survive a concentration camp. We are fortunate to have the example of your grandma, She was blessed with character and strength.

You’re denying the actual usage of the word in communication. Dictionary meanings often change when in normal use—for example, “Xerox” doesn’t mean “I copied this using a Xerox machine,” but is a generic term for making a photocopy.

To pretend “concentration camp’s” very specific meaning, and how it is meant in the context of this tweet (a “tweet” being another example of altering usage) doesn’t make sense, no offense intended.

In the movie “Open Range” Costner's character says something like this. “Bad people will tell you what they intend to do, If you'll just listen”.

What’s curious is how many people will deny that intent in others, hindering you (with violence if need be) from doing something about it.

RE: #17, that says it all. Pure democracy is one of the worst forms of government ever created. It is 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner.

Yeah, I’m not seeing where the analogy fits in. Well-off [compared to half the planetary population] people choosing to live in filth & squalor and antagonizing the police into brutal action to demand the contents of other people’s wallets in no way equates any more than OWS likens to a fish dinner.

These people want to say something, and have gathered together to say it the way they want to say it and to elicit the response they want to elicit. That they are saying it and eliciting a response in no way validates what they are saying.

Judging by the photos, I think the OWS protesters have lost the “green” mantle for good. If they were only as good at recycling garbage as they are at recycling Marxism.

amazed at what it took for a person to survive a concentration camp

I read a book a long time ago by a survivor, and he said it was the people who helped others and willingly shared their food who survived, not those who stole food and only took care of themselves.

Powerful lesson.

You are correct, but it's irrelevant. Once a meaning has become popular usage, that is the meaning, no matter what the term originally meant. Nazis (and to some degree Japanese) have forever changed “concentration camp” to mean death camps.

My grandfather discussed visiting the concentration camps with me one time.

His comment, among others, was that after visiting them, there was no doubt in his mind as to why he was over in the ETO.

These POS OWS protestor need to STFU. Sooner or later, they'll poke at someone who doesn't use harsh language or pepper spray.

As a student of history and specifically the holocaust, let me say that this is an abhorrent analogy to be made.

The pain, fear, degradation and loss that was forced onto the jews simply for being a jew was one of the worst points in Human history.

These people are morons...spoiled brats

"Sorry, but in truth, concentration camps mean exactly what the English words say: “concentrating” people in a camp."

Concentration camps were first used by the British to "KILL" women & children during the Boer war.

That allowed Britannia to steal gold & diamonds without being bothered by the pesky Dutch settlers who were there first.

‘She was blessed with character and strength.’

Thanks!

I never knew she was in a camp until I was in my 30’s(she NEVER talked about).

Although she was a forced laborer and was entitled to compensation by the German Government after WW 2, she NEVER collected a dime out of honor.

Next time someone yelps about slavery compensation, I’d like to show then a real slave.
