Herman Cain has many of the same qualities of leadership George Washington had

Looking back at American history, Herman Cain has a lot in common with George Washington. Washington never really wanted, nor actively sought out the top military leadership role in our fight and war for independence from Great Britain.

He was, like all of us a flawed man, to a degree, with many mistakes, shortcomings and failings in both his personal and military life. Brash actions in conflicts, a French diplomat killed while on diplomatic mission, witnessing the death of his sixteen year old step daughter in his arms, all served to mold and form Washington into the future great leader he became.

Upon receiving the top command, he continued to be haunted by this trail of stumbles throughout the campaigns and battles of Revolutionary War. But……little by little, bit by bit, miscue after miscue, mistake after mistake, Mr. Washington through experience and leadership, developed into, both a mature and wise leader of, first the Continental army, and later the nation itself.

And…..as a leader who often sought the advice of others, he wisely heeded the counsel of his French allies to engage the British army at Yorktown, Virginia, rather then New York, where he had previously been beaten badly by the British enemy…

And yes, like all great men and women, he effectively learned to choose a team of subordinates that were able and vastly capable of supporting him, in battle, in administration and wise counsel…

Such a man was George Washington, the man, the war leader, the first President …..of America. And as the work in progress continues and America has an opportunity to bring a man to the fore that will forge us all into one nation with equality, freedom and liberty for all citizens.

Such a man is Herman Cain.

I could shame you with what I know of American History. That is why it is embarrassing to me as a Republican and conservative when people like you compare people like Palin and Cain to George Washington. There is nothing wrong with Cain and Palin and they have their rolls in the conservative movement but your idol worship is sickening.

This was my response to this post

The complete ignorance of George Washington you display is simply inexcusable. Find it amusing that the most pompously arrogant posters on this thread are also the ones demonstrating an almost complete ignorance of anything but a most superficial understanding of American history

Contrast and compare all Freepers.

Whoa. I love it when you Texans talk dirty - and really, really mean. Reminds me of the day I was told by another Texan - that as a New Yorker - I was living in Hymie Town.

Understands the machine? Only if s/he understands it and hates it.

I care about these:

1. Undestands the CONSTITUTION and wants to adhere to it.

2. Has GUTS.

3. Has good character.

Other than the above I could give a rip.

I am not speaking dirty.
I am speaking to the notion that some here are so vested in electing a black man or a woman that they ignore substance.

The bottom line is that Cain is, from his core, a conservative. The same cannot be said of the Elitest Newt who, when not running for election, is some kind of weird progressive “third wave” conservative.

You used the disgraceful word “negra.” Do you understand that makes some of us Republicans sick to our stomach? Keep that s**t in Texas and not on a national board.

By the way, any Perry supporters willing to disown this person’s use of the word “negra”?

Yes, understands the machine/politics/constitution.

How do electric fences with machine guns on the border and Empowerment zones fit with the constitution?

Let’s see how many people come to your defense - or typically, ignore your disgusting remark, you bigot.

Why don’t you try calling Cain an American?

The machine and the Constitution are not the same thing nor are they a continuum, not sure your point.

Protecting the border regardless of details is one of the mandated functions of the Fedgov.

Empowerment zones are most assuredly not.

I don’t see any current candidate that I like at all. A couple I could vote for if I have a barf bag handy. Whoopee...

You are pushing things. LoL

But for cripes sakes, cant we speak honestly without fear of the PC thought police?

Nobody disparages Cain for his race or color.
I do think however that many here believe that race or gender has “magical” properties.

I don't believe he is a core conservative.

I have heard him talk about giving privileges to poor areas because the are predominately black. That's not conservative.

He agreed on Fox and Friends that abortion shouldn't be part of the political discussion.

He called abortion a social choice.

He voted for Clinton.

His wife voted in the 2008 Democrat primary.

He has accused his fellow candidates of doing things the didn't do and then backed off.

He was a lobbyist for 3 years.

He believes the 2nd Amendment is a states rights issue.

The real conservative with proven results such as 400 million of state tax dollars for border security. Defunding Planned Parenthood.Spending cuts. Job creation. Pro-gun. Pro-life candidate is Rick Perry.

The major problem with Cain is there is no way to be sure he is any kind of anything aside from his words and actions trump words in my book. He has no record. I am left to rely on his personality and his word. No thanks.

Maybe he could call for reparation zones around the border?? Two birds with one stone.

When I say machine, I mean the details of running government.

It was an awkward word to use, but I want a guy that understands the details.

Respectifully, MNJohnnie, I've encountered you on every Cain thread I've dared to read. I'm beginning to think that there is a group of head-in-the-sand Cain supporters who are paid by the post to attack anything that suggests taking an objective view of Herman Cain.

I was a Cain supporter. Documented on FR. No more. The sophistry shown by Cain apologists and the ferocity of personal attacks on his accusers (calling Bialek a pig, streewalker, pockmarked porker, etc.) is embarrassing to FR, as were the invention of hard cold facts from thin air during the harassment kerfuffle.

Cain? Washington? Saving a pizza company and being a talk radio host compares with commanding the Colonial Army? Comparing Cain to Washington? Stupidest. Thing. Written. In. Weeks.

Riparian zones on the border? That’s for the birds!

Sorry for the lame joke.
