First lady Michelle Obama told spouses of international leaders at a luncheon in Hawaii Sunday that she feels welcome in America's 50th state because of its "spirit of openness and tolerance."
"I feel like this is my home away from home, a place where I feel welcome and open and optimistic," Mrs. Obama said during the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, at a lunch at the seaside resort of Kaaawa, Hawaii.
"Folks here view their differences as strengths - not as weaknesses. And people of all different backgrounds live together and work together and seek to learn from each other."
President Obama was born in Honolulu, and his wife joked that his birthplace was a compelling factor when she agreed to marry him.
"That's really one of the reasons I married Barack," Mrs. Obama said. "When I realized that this is where we'd be spending the holidays, I said, 'Yes -- I love you!'"

FUMO
So how does she feel in the other 56 states?
Well...Kumbaya.....
Says who?
Does this mean she’s finally proud of Hawaiians? Be still my heart.
Home away from home as long as the tax payers pick up the tab. Better tell the fisher men to catch as many lobsters as possible.
“So how does she feel in the other 56 states?”
Heh!
So stay.
Then by all means, stay.
Poi excuse for a First Lady.
“That’s really one of the reasons I married Barack,” Mrs. Obama said. “When I realized that this is where we’d be spending the holidays, I said, ‘Yes — I love you!’”
Now we really know why the Mooch married Bammy ~~sarc~~
Don’t come back you behemoth harpy! No one likes you or wants you. Eat a whale.
Stay on Oahu Wookie, you might not feel so welcome on the neighbor islands. Might give me a chance to express my opinion with a single digit like I did to Hussein in 2009.
Welcome? I daresay she’s welcome. Aside from Linda Lingle, the state essentially never elects anyone but liberal Democrats — and that’s despite the large military population at (and around) Pearl. (Just imagine how MORE skewed HI’s elections would be without the military’s votes there.)
IMHO...not always the case!
A few years ago, while on vacation in Hawaii, we decided to take a side trip in the rental car and drive around Oahu (away from Honolulu and Waikiki Beach). While on the opposite side of the island we stopped at a public park between the Leeward Coast and the Windward Coast near the Pacific Ocean that we immediately noticed was only being used by local residents. After we got out of the car to walk around, we quickly sensed the nasty stares and heard the muttering of "How Lee" (Haole) and swiftly determined that we were NOT welcome there.
In Hawaii, tourists are encouraged to spend their money in the tourist areas, but not so welcome on the back side of the island.
But then it is doubtful that Michelle never got out of the tourist areas and her heavy security detail.
She married him to get a free trip to Hawaii? I love a good romance story.
Is there anyone out there who thinks this is anything but another vacation for these Marxist slackers?
