4. Allahpundit is making this up because he is obsessed with hating on Palin and is sad she isn’t in the news.
The smallest thread of hope.
Hey. A man can hope. Else we are left with Romney.
Vulnerability? A point higher in the polls and huge fund raising increase makes him vulnerable?
I think a candidate already had to file by now to be on the ballot. (not sure though)
If she runs I have no doubt NH, SC, and FL would all still nominate her through write-ins, no need for her to be on the ballot.
With the way the world is swirling, down the proverbial bowl, this isn’t out of the realm of possibility. What is?
Kissies all around ~ hug hug big group hug!
Not particularly interested in those who can’t make a decision.
We don’t really have time for hmmm maybe...
A Northern WH? wow, who’da thunk? That was the plan all along.. (oops!) Yup, attrition and media gnashing away at alll the other candidates..
.. not even Perry razin’ Cain will deter Sarah from her manifest destiny. Palin Cain 2012 (it’s about the best we could hope for under the circumstances.. and you know we could do a lot worse and likely will yet)
I WAS as strong a Palin supporter as anywhere on planet earth.
HOWEVER, the reason she gave for not running turned me off completely. She cited her priorities as:
1. God.
2. Family.
3. Country.
She got #1 right, but there are many times when country has to come before family. The easiest example harkens back to the founding of this country. The founding fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to the founding of this nation. History shows most of them ended up losing their fortunes, many lost their lives, but none lost their sacred honor.
Clearly, these men put God first, and the nation second. They loved their families, but not second only to God. If the founding fathers had put family ahead of country we would still be part of the British empire.
For a more contemporary example, recurring throughout our history, just look at our military. If a soldier going into battle does not put his country ahead of his family, why should he risk his life? (Let someone without a family do it...)
Our country is in the most dire danger since at least the Civil War, and possibly since Valley Forge. We need a leader who is willing to put it all on the line. Many of us are willing to put it all on the line to follow that leader.
Personally, I thought Sarah Palin was that leader. She was the ONLY candidate I could enthusiastically support. I sent her hundreds of dollars in support, with as much as I could afford held back for when when she announced.
Now, however, I can no longer support her. When the call came, Sarah Palin hung up the phone.
Perhaps the most enduring quote from Sarah Palin will be a comment she made to Greta the night she announced she would not run. Sarah Palin: “Politicians will always let you down.”
She probably did not realize it, but her statement applied 100% to her.
I wish Sarah Palin all the best in her life. I am convinced she is an admirable and good person. But we need leaders willing to pledge their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. That is a level of commitment Sarah Palin is not willing to make.
5. brokered convention
She doesn’t have an organization and she is too late to ballot.(I think)
If she can make the case for entering, I’d be down with that and give her as much loot as possible.
I wish.
It made no sense that she did not run. Unless there was something big in her past.
Intrade Palin futures have doubled in the last week.
Just saying.
Ron Paul would also be a factor in any scenario.
If Palin announces, she would immediately take Perry’s and Cain’s support.
Whether the Cain sexual harassment stuff is a big deal, or not, it’s worse than anything on the Palin list of non-controversies.
And Perry is just awful.
So, it doesn’t really matter if Palin is on the ballot in NH or not. She would be in the race. And everybody choosing between Palin and Cain would pick Palin.
You have a Romney v Palin v Paul race. Ron Pauls support wouldn’t disappear if Palin got in the race.
Intrade contracts on this are intriguing.
They had been in my opinion too low, (in retrospect they were right) before Palin opted out of running.
Today Palin futures are climbing. Ticked up again just since my previous post.
What’s interesting though, is now there’s a new Palin contract:
Contract name: PALIN.RUN.PRES.DEC11
“Sarah Palin to formally announce a run for President before midnight ET on 31 Dec 2011”
That contract is climbing even faster. Up 30% today.
