Politico wont say if a rival campaign fed them the story about sexual harassment allegations made against current Republican presidential front-runner Herman Cain in the 1990s.
CNNs Wolf Blitzer on Monday pressed reporter Ken Vogel of Politico on whether the publication relied on opposition research from one of Cains rivals.
Politics are politics as you said, and certainly there are people that are digging up opposition research, Vogel said. Im just not going to do anything that would identify that would point to the identity of our original source.
We dont think that the original source is as important as the actual information, Vogel said.
The reporter said Politico got a tip and it was from someone outside. We managed to corroborate all the details and more. We have to be clear here that this tip was sort of a general tip.

I thought you were busting me for plagiarism because it is a paraphrased quote from Plato. The whole thing doesn't fit in the tag line box.
But, I stand behind the assumption that I feel superior both morally and ethically to many of those who wish to make rules governing how I live; from our county administrators to people serving in my state's capitol and that of our nation. I can name numerous people at every level that I would never recommend to care for your pet's, baby sit your children, house sit while you are on vacation or manage your investment account.
Would you allow a person to be picked from the congressional role to handle those tasks for you with no chance to veto the choice?
If it was Ron Paul, he'd have gone on TV himself to make the announcement. Given his ultra-libertarian beliefs, he would think this a non-issue. No way is Ron Paul involved in this.
I just wanted to make sure that you really felt the way I do.
Sometimes I come off as being superior in my posts and wonder if I have that right.
YES I do!
Feh. You're talking about Mr. Honesty and Truth...the same man who wears fake eyebrows. LOL!
If I had to bet I’d say Karl Rove and his henchmen. He’s in the tank for Romney and as much as tries he can’t hide disrespect for Cain. He thinks Cain is a flash in the plan, but now they are all running scared of Cain. Never forget that Rove killed McCain’s chances in the SC primary in 2000 when rumors surfaced that McCain had a black illigitimate child, and that he was suffering from PTSB. McCain’s campaign was effectively over after these lies came out.
This story is not enough to kill Cain’s chances, but Lord, he needs to button his lip and quit giving so many interviews about it. He’s getting mentally confused over the entire thing. Having to talk about this crap when he should be talking about the economy. By the way, Rove went crazy tonight on O’Reilly when he was told that Obama camp thinks his boy Mitt is a flip-flopper with no core values. I thought he was going to have a heart attack saying the biggest flip-flopper of all is Obama. Needless to say he didn’t refute the allegation that Willard has no core values and stands for nothing. Just went off on a tangent about Barack Hussein Obama.
Any folk there know the OFFICIAL CAIN 2012 WEBSITE Link?
All I want to do is give my support to him via a donation, but I want to go to the correct site ... Because there might be fake evil ones out there run by leftist kooks who want my credit card information.
Karl Rove
What they are saying is, that they know who it is in the GOP field, but, not saying who.
I’m not seeing how you arrive at that interpretation.
The original report says it was “a former association board member.”
