The Republican Establishment's War on Rick Perry
FayObserver ^ | Oct 2011 | Myron B. Pitts

Posted on 10/15/2011 7:39:43 PM PDT by Clairity

Romney has had a big boost from the Republican establishment, which decided a while back he's the serious candidate with a chance of beating President Obama.

The establishment also decided that upending Texas Gov. Rick Perry's chances is the best way to ensure a Romney victory, since none of the other candidates in the race are very serious and the establishment utterly failed in coaxing NJ Gov. Chris Christie into the race.

Cain and Romney are also buddies. Cain endorsed Romney last time around and Romney finds various ways to praise Cain, even going so far as telling a NH crowd the other day that they could feel comfortable voting for him OR Cain.

Cain is in a position to play kingmaker, throwing his support to Romney at a critical juncture and putting him over the top, especially if the lower level right-wingers (Bachmann, Santorum) continue to hang around and leech out some of Perry's Tea Party support.

When you put all these factors in with Republicans' traditional habit of putting in the candidate they consider most electable, even if they're not thrilled about him, a la John McCain, it’s very difficult to see how Romney doesn't win the nomination.

DREAM ON!! Cain is not going to be 'king maker' for ANYBODY. He's going for the Presidency & Lord willing - with the help of the Tea Party & the Conservatives on his Cain Train - he's going to make it!!!

The guns have not been turned on Romney or Cain. This alone tells the story. But if Romney is static and Cain has peaked, Rick can start his comeback. Rick needs to dump the South and strike out for the electorate who will choose the next president—the Independents. They aren’t in the South. As for the RINOs, they will be in for a rude awakening when they see conservatives refuse to be held hostage to the Romney or Obama mime. We need to do a write-in and forget Romney. Is that treason if it turns it over to Obama? I just don’t see how the poser can get through our firewall primary.

Unlike you, I have provided you with a documented source showing Perry's ties to the GOP Establishment.

> Bill Kristol to a NY Time Reporter telling him how the GOP Establishment plans to deal with “the Tea party mutiny”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2792217/posts?page=3

Kristol told me just after Perry entered the race, a development that essentially ended [the more radical Michele] Bachmann’s brief ascent. Establishment Republicans may prefer Romney to Perry, but their assumption is that either man can be counted on to steer the party back toward the broad center next fall, effectively disarming the Tea Party mutiny.

I like Perry on guns.

The others are murky at best.

Perry seems to be alone on the 2ndA.

I would like to see Mr. Cain( and the others) with a handgun. Mr. Cain you could shoot mine, if you weren’t ascared of them.

Cain seems to be a hoplophobe, bless its heart.

Don’t kid yourself. Rick Perry is no Mitt Romney.

So do you want to win a darned election or do you get more enjoyment out of sitting around hating Perry? You’ll love it when Obama gets re-inaugurated. It’s time we started worrying about choosing the right nominee and defeating Obama. Get over it, Palin is gone. Life goes on.

Don’t just scream in hysteria when the facts challenge your worship of St Rick, answer the questions.

Perry was encouraged to run by the "Establishment Republicans" to diminish Bachmann.
Idiots.

Well, then why aren’t our so-called “conservative” candidates trying to expose Romney instead of going after a candidate who is no threat. This is crazy.

If Perry decided to hit the books a little harder during college and didn’t sound like another Dubya, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. Perry did this to himself and others just rose from the vacuum.

What does anyone really know about Perry other then the nice words and platitudes he puts in his speeches?

Well probably more than we currently know about the part time preacher from Antioch Baptist Church North - Atlanta. When they apply the proctoscope to him then we may know a little of his history, associates, dealings, beliefs, etc. Until then we are pretty much clueless.

And I refuted your MISLEADING post, citing a leftist author with no direct quote as authority, many times, yet you still keep posting this garbage as if it were gospel — maybe leftist drivel is gospel to you, but not to me.

>>> “ I like Cain a lot.
But. This is a troubling problem, why does this “Tea Party” guy like Romney the Rino so much? “ <<<<

A “duh” moment if there ever was one, huh? I thought the same thing. If it walks like a duck.........

I am of the mind that Cain barely wants this, never thought he would get it, but knew he could run with the horses. He meant to just bolster his resume and raise his name recognition nationally, to guarantee a solid future, and THIS. There is either a back story between him and Romnney, or he is angling for the VP position, having thought all along this thing is going to go to Romney. Cain is a smart man. A player, maybe? Unknown for sure.

The MSM are pushing Romney and attacking Perry. They are not attacking Cain as much because they don’t feel he can really win.

What? Why would “the establishment” try to diminish Bachmann? She’s never been a threat and she’s running on fumes.
