As President Barack Obamas approval rating reaches new lows with seemingly every tracking poll, the question of how he is going to win re-election is a high priority for the president and his administration. However, based on Thursday nights address to a joint session of Congress, it appears Obama could be attempting to mimic former President Harry Trumans 1948 campaign against a do-nothing Congress.

Well said.
From an Ohio State grad (’82) but born in the UP of MI I have to say kudos to you. Keep up the good fight. People are getting tired of defending the marxist alias Soetoro-Dunham-Obama.
Which was deliberately injected into the bloodstream with a hypodermic needle named "Stimulus."
I never cease to be amazed at how many FReepers reverently refer to Karthammer as âDr. Kâ and hang on his every word. Krathammer isn’t a conservative. He never has been and he never will be. But, he plays one on TV.
That is a more accurate assessment of who this clown really is, IMO too. He is a weak prince who was propped up by an assortment of con-men. Yet, he and his cronies are realizing that this grand, starry-eyed transformation of America ain't going so well. The evidence is all around them and they are just smart enough to smell the smoke and see the fire.
So this woeful lack of real world experience in the face of colossal failure of policies has caused a mental paralysis of sorts in the Big O and his clan - headlights meet deer. Consequently, he and his advisers mentally dig in their heels to the only thing they know-leftist ideology: class warfare, crony capitalism, vote buying (via stimulus, or is that stimuli?), growing government, environmental fascism, union thuggery, etc. And, let us not forget the toughest of leftist tasks, perpetuating the myth of who they are NOT.
So, Krauthammer is playing Captain Obvious here.
Even that mal-president Clinton had the political savvy to "triangulate" and move to the center on occasion. Obama is a like the loser at the casino whose "system" of betting has left him broke and begging the casino for a loan to play some more.
Great job. Being a freeper means never having to say you are sorry.
Real Americans have always known this, Democrats & Liberals are starting to realize it and progressives, socialists, communist scum still believe is the azzhole.
Obama is the poster child for how blind and stupid the entire ideology is. "Incompetent Leftist" is spot on.
Not only is he mortal but he is Barry Soetoro.
Surely, Colby should not mince words and call Krauthammer a RACIST, even though Charles seems to frustratingly, occasionally say good things about Obama.
The comparison of Dr. K to the character “Dr. Strangelove” in Stanley Kubrick's movie of the same name is appropriate. Dr. K is a really creepy dude.
Problem being the Repubs will give him a pass. They point out nothing. they blame the MSM but do nothing to help themselves. They should have hammered him in 2006 and forward. Instead everyone wanted to have the first black president. You mean to tell me that with W as POTUS they couldn’t get this guys records? BS. Roberts gave two oaths of office? Passes given on Black Panthers, ACORN, Fast & Furiuos, black farmers settlement, etc...
We have to get more guts and shut this POS down along with the entire Dem party. Now is as good of a time as any!
He is now realizing his ill-advised recent apologism for Obama’s plans and intentions are lies is trying to protect his status as “weekend newsshow token conservative expert” are in jeopardy. He is trying to salvage his paycheck, that’s all.....
The problem with President Obama is his inability to comprehend, basic math, Econ 101, and human nature. Obama strongly believed that when he rained money down on America in the form of Stimulus I, it would create an orgy of spending, confidence in the government would follow, and the economy would in turn rebound. Such thoughts always make so much sense after a few drinks at the late-night inauguration party.
While in theory this plan should work, it is ultimately flawed because it does not take into account the emotional element of that amorphous known as, ‘the economy.’ Before anyone spends one dime of their money (Stimulus or not) they first and foremost must feel confident in both tomorrow and themselves. By this I mean, people must believe the government is in control of its fiscal house.
By borrowing like a drunken navy, Obama killed any confidence the Stimulus might have given us from the get-go. We all skipped the economic orgy and went directly to the morning after regret. We didn’t celebrate the introduction of Stimulus I as much as we lamented the strain it put on Americas bank account. This regret tightened all of our wallets up, sucked the fun out of electing Obama last night, and made us all put our heads down in economic shame.
And now to make matters orse, President Obama is pushing for seconds (in the form of Thursday’s speech) when we’re trying to sneak out the back door unnoticed. How trashy does Obama want us to feel ourselves?
We are never getting out of this mess until we get leadership that can run a calculator. Even if spending is reduced and entitlements are reformed, any money sucked out of the system will be more than made up for by an emergence of confidence in our national psyche. Fiscal responsibility will put that stimulus orgy behind us and we can then start being proud of ourselves again! That, and if we also reform our tax code...we may be even be willing to get a little silly again at the next work party.
GReat post, Mike. Thank you.
No, Charles, many of us knew this long before he was elected.
Speak for yourself.
Go for it, Barry. Government has done enough in the short 3 1/2 decades you've been in office.
We want Congress to do nothing.
Except get the hell out of our lives.
Well Mr. Krauthammer, when do we bring back jimmah cattah’s misery index? The markets took a beating after bamster’s job speech, fuel prices are still high, unemployment is still going up. Nothing different than when the peanut farmer was in the WH.
LOL. Well put.
