Katy Perry is a pop singer/songwriter who churns out annoying Billboard hits (Firework, Teenage Dream, Hot N Cold) that your tween-age kids love and you love to hate (yes, I speak from experience). She made news this week after tying Michael Jacksons record of scoring 5 #1 Billboard hits off a single album.
She also made some little-noticed waves on Twitter that should be newsworthy.
In a response to a fan of hers on Monday, she tweeted:
Over the past 24 hours, all hell has broken loose with Palestinian, Muslim, and progressive Twitter followers lashing out at Perry for her innocuous tweet asking others to pray for Israel. Heres a small sample:
Many of her fans in Israel praised her for taking a stand. But alas, their praise was premature.
Late on Monday night, you see, Perry backed off. Pray for Israel? Neeevvver mind:
Not that shell be able to appease the unappeasable.
More from the peaceniks:
Baby, youre a Dhimmi Work
Free Israel!
Why I don’t get involved with this kind of social media.
But I thought entertainers knew all the answers...
I bet her hubby wasn’t too thrilled with her saying that.
Sorta reminds me of when Arlen Specter changed parties. No matter what you do, libs will find a reason to hate you if you don’t toe the line of their ideological purity.
Not that Specter didn’t deserve the thrashing and betrayal he got.
they probably didn’t like when Rick Perry named Israel as our ally and friend in his announcement speech, either....
Never even heard her music but am now a fan of hers.
I don’t recall anyone claiming that twitterers were particularly intelligent.
I don’t think of her as a wise sage when it comes to the middle east. Nope. She makes me think of a line I heard a few times on Bourbon Street. What was that line? How did that go?
Oh yea, “Hey Katy, show us your t*ts!”
Sorry, but that’s all I can think of when I see her. It is not my fault. I don’t dress her. But I am an equal opportunity piglet. I think the same thing about Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian. Except they need not be asked the question since they will provide such visuals without much thought......
Israel is probably the name of one of her lesbian friends...
Unless I am missing something, she didn’t go Dihmmi. “A kid asked me to pray for him and I did” is far beyond what the average celeb would ever say in public. She asked for, and admitted to PRAYING FOR ISRAEL.
Then she said she didn’t support violence. That’s not caving in to Muslims, nor slamming Israel. Now I would love to see a celeb as gung ho as we are about pounding Pali terrorists into little balls of dirt, but for a Hollywood type to go that far? I am impressed. Sure it would have been nice to see her tell them to pound salt, but 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
Sorry Michelle, Overreaction on your part.
Her tweet was a response to one person who asked for her to pray for him.
Katy Perry is a godless harlot. The children of God should have nothing to do with her.
Asking the public to pray for a person in Israel...Godless...
Nope. Something just not adding up there. Is that religion I see on your sleeve?
Me too. Good post.
These people pray??? I doubt Katy or any of today’s entertainers, or the people who tweet vulgarity know what a prayer is. No matter which side they are on.
A flipping men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Social networking needs a new name. Anything remotely
associated with leftists, liberals, youts to young to
know their rear end from reality, communists, progressives,
etc, etc, can be guaranteed to be toilet quality material
at the speed of lightening strikes.
