Major Nidal Hasan, accused of the 2009 mass shooting rampage at Fort Hood that left 13 dead, has retained his military rank and continues to get paychecks from the government, the base commander said Wednesday.
Lieutenant General Donald Campbell, Jr., the commander of Fort Hood, said Hasans confinement and medical expenses are also being paid for by the military, KXXV-TV reported. He receives weekly medical treatment and is occasionally transported to meet with his defense team.
Campbell said the actions are to ensure Hasan gets a fair trial.
The bottom line is when you cut through everything we are as an army, we have to be fair to him regardless of what we saw or we think we saw or whatever the case may be, Campbell said. Its imperative we maintain the integrity of the court martial so he gets as fair a shot as possible defending himself with his team.

He should get a paycheck until after a fair trial. He should get food, clothing, and shelter - a VERY secure shelter. Then, after a fair trial and proper judicial review, he should get a jolt of free electricity too.
Don’t forget. He gets wrapped in a pig blamket and buried at sea.
I think the delay is likely because Hasan is a Muslim, and the administration doesn't want to look like it's being "too harsh" on Muslims. There is no evidence that Obama and Hasan knew each other, pre- or post-inauguration. The fact that Hasan appeared in the information about some think tank's pre-inauguration conference does not mean that he played a role in Obama's transition, or that he and Obama knew each other pre-inauguration.
I don’t care about the details of his burial, although a pork-enhanced ceremony would be amusing. What matters to me is that we remove as many terrorists as possible from this earth and send them to their well-deserved eternal reward.
