When you are a politician you have to 'splain your zigs and zags every now and then.
You know we have a whale of a lot of anti-Republicans here ~ and I don't mean just "anti", these guys snarl and gnash their teeth at the mention of Nixon, and they dismiss everything Reagan tried to get done.
I'd like to dismiss them all as Mitbots or Federalist Society types but that wouldn't cover the problem.
Some of it is IGNANCE of political history in this country over the last 50 years. That's the period when the Republicans retrieved their position in American politics one clawmark at a time.
My personal thought is they are people who were Democrats for most of their lives and really don't want to be involved in Republican politics, but they have to if they want to push their partly Conservative agendas.
