As America bids farewell to the space shuttle era on Thursday, likely presidential candidate Rick Perry appears none too pleased with the Obama administration, accusing the president of leaving American astronauts with no alternative but to hitchhike into space.
In a sharply worded statement issued by the governor of Texas -- the state is home to the Johnson Space Center -- Perry charges that the Obama Administration continues to lead federal agencies and programs astray, this time forcing NASA away from its original purpose of space exploration, and ignoring its groundbreaking past and enormous future potential.

I guess we look at it differently. I see NASA as a bloated government program with constant budgetary issues that politicians use as a tool to get money from federal budget to their state. I know NASA current budget isn’t a large percentage, but I don’t see how throwing more money at it will fix the institution as a whole. I just lean more towards private enterprise over government agencies in general.

There's nothing inaccurate in "bids farewell to the SPACE SHUTTLE ear."
The next president needs to find a way to get NASA back on track.

I know what you see is quite correct (and commercial is the way it was intended to go) but what has happened is that by doing it this way, now, it has cut the knees out from under the entire U.S. space program — national and commercial.
You just don’t recognize the cracks yet.

Much of it is taken out of content, most of it is old news, and all of it has been dealt with here in Texas.
Most of all it's ONE FRIGGIN ISSUE that has been posted and reposted so many times it has become redundant.
Look, I'll be the first one to tell you Perry isn't perfect (he's my governor) no one is.
When he has made mistakes, (TTC, Guardasil, etc) we've called him on it and he has responded in kind.
Name a Pol today actually listens to his people?
I believe the GOP field is pathetically weak and that Perry can beat Barry. That's my bottom line at this point.
If and when he gets in the race, I'll discuss every single issue with you fellas. Until then, ya’ll are looking a little biased.

Old useless spam
If Perry supporting illegal immigrants for nearly 10 years up through last year is "old useless spam", should we ignore everything Obama did up through last year because it's "old useless spam"?

Comparing the two? You really want to go there?

But this was it, folks, what a proud moment for the United States of America. I mean you didn't have to get up and see it live. You can see tape of it. You can watch it on YouTube or any number of news sites or cable news stations, to be able to tell your children and your grandchildren that you were there when the United States of America got out of the nonsense of space exploration by man and all the money got diverted to more useful things down here on earth like Muslim outreach and studying the catastrophic effects of climate change thanks to our Dear Leader Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm. part of Rush's opening monologue

I heard that today normy.
You and Rush get it.
Everything that is exceptional about America is being dismantled by Barack Obama.
Time for Perry

Most of all it's ONE FRIGGIN ISSUE
This is a pattern that Perry has repeatedly engaged in. As a matter of fact, it's new to some people outside of Texas, and it's an issue that Perry has been obsessed with. It shows his character, as much as him being a pro-lifer and supporting Rudy Giuliani for President does. You can't pretend that he didn't make those speeches over the last 10 years.
When he has made mistakes, (TTC, Guardasil, etc) we've called him on it and he has responded in kind.
First of all, a true conservative shouldn't require people to poke and prod them into being a true conservative. If the guy was a genuine conservative, we would never have had to keep pushing back against him.
Second of all, those weren't mistakes, they were deliberate. If he was an idiot and none of his friends were involved with those projects, then you can say it was a mistake.
But Perry is not an idiot, and too many of his friends, associates, and donors were involved with those projects for them to be anything but deliberate.
The only mistakes Perry made was getting caught, or rather having the taxpayers find out that his friends, associates, and donors were making money from those projects. Look at the Convergen LifeSciences fiasco from last month - they lied their asses off on their application to get millions in taxpayer dollars, and Perry, Dewhurst, and Straus still defended them, even after they were caught red-handed. Not a coincidence that the leader of the company donated a nice chunk of change to Perry and had been referred to as a friend of Perry's.
The things that Perry has done over the last decade that pissed us off, I expect those kinds of things out of a Democrat.

Hitchhikers don’t usually have to pay through the nose for their rides. More like a very expensive cab ride, with a driver from some “you don’t want to know” third world country.. or maybe from the Russian Mafia, driving a Taxi made in Yugoslavia during the cold war. :)
