Lots of Muslims in Akron, mainly Somali IIRC. For some reason, lots of Somalis moved into those Northern states like Wisconsin, Minnesota and Ohio.
Minnesota gives immigrants a 5 year state tax-free status. Despite the fact that they are the greatest drain on the taxpayer, society, welfare and social services; the Somali and other immigrants don’t have to pay into the tax system that supports them, for a period of 5 years.
Not too surprisingly - more than a few leave after this benefit ends. Gee, thanks Minnesota.
