Until Cumuo is excommunicated and denied communion, it is all just talk. The Catholic churches talks the talk but consistently fails to walk the walk. My wife and daughter are Catholic. I told my wife until I see the church do more than talk and whine I will not be a Catholic. The church is missing a great opportunity to bring conservative Christians into it’s fold. If they wring their hands and dithers Islam will rise.

How would that stop Cuomo from doing what he is doing? Please advise. Yes, I agree he should be denied Communion. The self-excommunication has already occurred, clearly.

I am a Catholic and I happen to totally agree with you. Where is Cuomo’s Bishop? Cuomo is shacking up with some woman and openly committing adultery, and is directly responsible for this law being enacted in the first place!

The Bishop's may not have been able to stop the law, but they sure as hell can stop Cuomo from receiving the Eucharist!

I still feel that I am in the right place though. Despite some of the cowardly Bishop's that we have, the Church as a whole sticks to it's principles and that is what I like. Some of Bishop's may choose not to act when they should, but the Catholic Church does not waver. There have been some very outspoken Bishop's in the past that did indeed meet with people to tell them not to receive Communion. Cardinal Egan advised Guliani not to receive Communion, however, Guliani disobeyed him and received it anyway. Needless to say, Egan made it perfectly clear that he was not pleased and he did this publicly!

Cuomo has excommunicated himself already. Latae Sententiae excommunication, I believe, is what it is called.

There are probably not canonical grounds to excommunicate him, however, his bishop should publicly forbid him from receiving Holy Communion, and order that all ministers of Holy Communion in his diocese withhold same.

Same here. Moral relativism has destroyed the Church. The 2008 election was the last straw for me. Instead of informing its members about Obama's fanatical obsession with abortion, his unconscienable votes against protecting abortion survivors, priests held vigils to ask God to help their flock to do the right thing when they cast their vote. The problem was that they didn't know the right thing, because the priests refused to TELL them the truth about Obama. They failed their parishioners, and ultimately, the entire nation, because millions of Catholics had absolutely no guidance. For that, I will never forgive the Church. In refusing to do its duty and take a stand, it helped put this godless man in office.
