Gore promoting fewer children to curb pollution

The global warming debate has always been a touchy one for both sides, and when the world’s top global warming activist is talking about the size of population and how that contributes to the choices societies make, it might be worth taking note.

In an appearance Monday in New York City, former Vice President Al Gore, prominently known for his climate change activism, took on the subject of population size and the role of society in controlling it to reduce pollution.

He offered some ideas about what might be done for females in the name of stabilizing population growth. (h/t Chris Horner via wattsupwiththat.com)

“One of the things we could do about it is to change the technologies, to put out less of this pollution, to stabilize the population, and one of the principle ways of doing that is to empower and educate girls and women,” Gore said. “You have to have ubiquitous availability of fertility management so women can choose how many children have, the spacing of the children.

“You have to lift child survival rates so that parents feel comfortable having small families and most important — you have to educate girls and empower women,” he said. “And that’s the most powerful leveraging factor, and when that happens, then the population begins to stabilize and societies begin to make better choices and more balanced choices.”

Population control fanatics are irrational and insane. They can not advocate reducing the population unless they are willing to take personal responsibility and off themselves. Anything less is pure demagoguery.

you have to educate girls and empower women

So they fill classrooms, get jobs, drive cars to work, buy lots of stuff, travel, double the economy and pollution. Women generated much less pollution in the 1950s, both environmental and human basket cases.

If his parents had signed onto this concept, we would all be better off.

I have a great idea for fertility management. Make eunuchs of all males. That would empower women and not pollute the earth with chemicals (birth control pills and the like). Or we could have a Lorena Bobbit Day and celebrate the cutting off of the offending weapon.

Vaquero, Grunthor:

The US has a below-replacement (collapsing) fertility rate of about 2.05 children per completed family size; but there are plenty of "poorer" countries which have an even lower rate:
Iran 2.04
Tunisia 2.04
Bahamas 2.02
Chile 2.00
Brazil 1.90
Sri Lanka 1.88
Mongolia 1.87
North Korea 1.85
Thailand 1.83
Azerbaijan 1.67
Trinidad and Tobago 1.61
Cuba 1.49

All these figures are from the UN Total Fertility Rate ranking online.

Even the countries with a much higher fertility, also are seeing rapid drops in that rate --- for instance, Namibia, which went from 4.89 to 2.57 between 2000 and 2010, a phenomenal 10-year drop. Tthe trend is downward, globally.

The problem isn't "3rd world countries breeding like rats." The problem is crappy economic/political systems which penalize productivity, strangle enterprise, and incentivize dependency. Something that's going on right here, right now, right in the USA.

Gore should become a mute. I hope his kids are nothing like himself or Tipper. Two wackadoodles for sure. When he opens his mouth I shudder to think what will spew forth.

Al longs for a world in which he and his fellow ruling-class criminals live in a Walden paradise, their view unobstructed by bothersome peasants.

Al (Come on, Baby, Release my Chakra) Gore espousing the Earth First “humans are parasites” theology.

Frightening (as this loon was almost President) but not unexpected.

Memo to Al Gore: A great way to save the environment is to deport the millions and millions of illegal aliens. They keep having large numbers of children that we taxpayers are expected to support. And this children will have huge number of children. Also, we should stop admitting immigrants who keep having children to rip off our welfare system.

He should be peddling his hooey in parts of the world where women are still cranking out an average of 6 - 7 babies per woman. Not In America, where we crank out an average of 2 per woman. Read America Alone by Mark Steyn. He discusses this in detail.

The documentary “Demographic Winter” is well worth watching. Sounds trite, but people truly are our greatest natural resource.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom and clearly the “depopulation” proponents are godless and lacking in all wisdom and reason. The Bible states that children are a blessing and debt is a curse, but our public policies are exactly the opposite. We rack up insurmountable debt while we promote reduced reproduction. The consequences will be painful.
