Yesterday, I posted that Sarah Palin criticizing Mitt Romney made her sound more like a candidate. Her interview with Sean Hannity has given me pause on this matter. It struck me as I watched the interview what she had to say about a possible third party. You can watch the clip and decide for yourself.
Sarah Palin's warning to the Republican establishment coupled with her comments about RomneyCare yesterday are painting a picture, her vision. Palin gets it. She feels the angst and is trying to get the message to the Beltway Establishment/I don't think they are listening. Whatever one's opinion of her prospects in politics the fact remains she has a better grasp for the mood of the country than her critics.
Palin is right about the mood of the country and the future of the Republican Party. They can't blow the opportunity. If the G.O.P. loses this next election to Obama, then all bets are off regarding its future. Millions of Americans, conservatives, tea partiers etc were not enamored with Republican spending and won't tolerate a return.
In her comments she made reference to the rise of the Republican Party and the demise of the Whig Party. We shall see, but whether Sarah Palin runs for President is not nearly as relevant as her clear understanding of the stakes for the party of Lincoln if it betrays tried and true conservative principles in favor of power at all costs. The people of the country across the political and ideological spectrum have a sense of where things are headed and are all the more aware that the "in crowd" doesn't get it. “and any third party candidate on the right that garners more than a handful of votes will take the GOP candidate down with them. Just stating the harsh reality, it’s Obama or the GOP candidate, it’s your vote.”
YES - you got that right. It’s just a fact.
You might think that, but as time rolls and if these historic declines continue, you just might be surprised.
We have the Tea party now which seem far more effective.
We? Are you referring the Republican party?
Geez guys. I was on my third or fifth scotch when I got into this discussion. I barley know what my original point was on this. I have the occasional replies from dead threads every blue moon, but two in five minutes? You are blowing my mind.
Scotch isn't supposed to do that. Check yourself.
“We” is always Conservatives when I use it in discussions. In my opinion, the current GOP apparatus is something of an impediment that a useful tool to getting real reforms.
I am not sold on the idea of a third party. The people threatening it are very unpopular and will not have a better message than any of our solid Conservatives do. We are in a Conservative ascendancy because our message is the one needed for our times.
Solid Conservatives in the Republican party?
Scotch is Saturday nights. Thursday night is Peyote. Tomorrow is going to be Chrystal Meth.
You betcha.
Yes, taking over the Republican party is best BUT Sarah Palin is warning the GOP that there is much at stake if they refuse to face facts. If the GOP doesn't change their tune on Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement, there is a real possibility of the start up of a third party. The American people are pissed and the GOP Elites just don't get it. They better get their heads out of their asses real quick if they know what's good for them. Change is coming whether they want it or not.
BTW, does the Tea Party put all it's support into the Republican party? Is it now de facto Republican party?
In my opinion, DeMint, Bachmann, Palin, Ryan, Rubio, Toomey, Santorum, Cain, McCotter and a hand full of others are Conservatives. There are a few.
How did a week old thread come back to full life after a week of nothing? This is the strangest thing I have seen here at FR since I got into a conspiracy argument about Television being mind control with Frantzie.
“I barley know what my original point was on this.”
Freudian slip there or just a typo? LOL
Seriously, though, I’d been looking for an appropriate place to post my ire at Trump since I heard him say (ever more frequently) that he might run on a 3rd party when I ran across your older thread, so thanks.
Scotch, eh? I’m a bourbon fan myself :-))))))))))
