Susan Daniels is a licensed private investigator who has researched the use of the social security number currently being used by Barack Hussein Obama which she has determined was issued in the state of Connecticut, where Obama has neither lived nor worked. Daniels has stated that the number had originally been assigned to a man from Connecticut born in 1890.

Daniels is president of Daniels and Associates Investigations Inc., which is located in Ohio and was incorporated in 1995. Prior to opening her own company, Daniels worked as a private investigator for Friedrick Investigations in Lakewood, OH, including in the areas of medical malpractice, background investigations, and litigation support. She was also employed as a journalist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer for 17 years, covering Board of Health meetings, trials, local county commissioners’ meetings, and performing public records research.

Obama may have needed their help after leaving Oxy - where he likely attended as a foreign student. Hence the 999-99 social security numbers from that period.

Obama went to NY in 1981 but did not start at Columbia until fall of 1982. He may have needed that year to get his ‘new life’ in order.

Seriously? So SS is still sending out checks to a guy who died decades ago?

I don't know if he ever received checks, he may have signed up for medical benefits because he was old. When he died the bills stopped coming. There is no evidence that Barry applied for that number, just someone did.

What motive would such a facility have had for keeping his SSN off the death certificate?

None. Who files the death certificate with SS? If the family does then there would be no one to file it.

So Barry didn’t have a job prior to 1985? If so, wouldn’t he have needed an SSN?

He claimed he worked at some ice cream shop as a kid (under the table?), other than that he was a student (foreign, 999-xxx-xxxx?) and community agitator through his twenties. He may well have not needed an SS # until then and the "typical white woman" helped him get a pretty clean one

Susan Daniels says it may have been sought by an 87-year-old who needed medical care, i.e., Medicare. But a) why would someone that old/destitute not have applied for SS benefits AND Medicare many years earlier?

There was no such thing as Medicare until 1965. It the person in question was born in 1890, he would have been 75 at the time. I have no idea whether everyone over 65 was automatically enrolled into Medicare. As far as SS is concerned, not everyone is covered, e.g., state and federal employees at the time.

if that individual HAD applied for benefits, then Social Security Death Index would have recorded when that individual died (surely no one is claiming this 120-year-old individual is still alive).

Not necessarily. My grandmother died over 10 years ago. It was reported to SS. Her checks stopped. However, her name was never entered into the SS death index. My grandfahter died 5 years before and his name was entered.

That’s interesting, but I don’t know how common it is. A system that services tens of millions of seniors obviously can’t be perfect, but unless this is widespread, how could Madelyn Dunham be sure this guy wouldn’t end up in SSDI, in which case the fraud would have been detected relatively quickly and her beloved grandson ended up in jail etc.?

Only problem is that Barry since age 10 had been living with grandparents, who were not exactly paupers. By age 15, he was attending a tony prep school in Hawaii: hard to see how he qualifies for AFDC under those circumstances.

Sure, but if that were the motivating reason for making an application, he could hardly afford to wait around until age 27 to make use of such a card.

In 1977, Ann Dunham Soetoro was in Indonesia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Dunham), about as far from CT as one could imagine. She didn’t become a program officer for Ford Foundation—which in theory could have occasioned intermittent trips to Foundation headquarters in NYC—until the early 1980’s. The question of how a kid living in HI managed to apply in CT for a SSN remains a deep mystery.
