That was an excellent analysis. There is also the part of a Malignant Narcissist that simply cannot be told what to do. If they yield to your request or demand it is yielding power to you, and they can't do that; it's too threatening. So he would find a way to 'do it' and 'not do it' at the same time, which feeds his 'laughing behind their backs' smugness/practice of always considering himself about a 100x more intelligent than the dumb bunnies (in his eyes) he's constantly 'tricking'.
