Oil imports spike as Obama oil ban decreases domestic production
Washington Examiner ^ | 4-27-11 | Conn Carroll

President Obama sent a letter to Congress earlier this week urging them to “eliminate unwarranted tax breaks for the oil and gas industry, and to use those dollars to invest in clean energy to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.” Let’s leave aside for a second the fact that even after 30 years of subsidies, clean energy energy accounts for just over 1% of all U.S. energy production. If Obama really wanted to reduce our dependence on foreign oil tomorrow he could end his Gulf of Mexico permitorium on offshore drilling.

Obama is looking for the culprit behind the high oil prices the way O.J. is looking for the real killer of his wife.

If we all lived in thatch huts, had a 100W solar cell on the roof to run our three licensed outlets for lighting, planted gardens to eat, stopped driving to a place of work and instead paste pictures of our glorious leaders on the headstones of the capitalists put down by flash mobs, we’d be in a better world./S

What they are doing just isn't going to get any clearer, America. It's not like it's a big secret.

The 0bama-Democrat-RINO (Progressive) "No Domestic Energy Policy!"

All of that puts the U.S. in a position that war for oil or
complete economic collapse will be our only choices.
You can't frustrate every source of domestic energy
without consequences. Our enemies will blackmail us
to the extent that we are vulnerable to blackmail.

0bama, the Democrats and RINOs are leading us into a real war for oil.
A war we won't have the energy to fight.
A war we don't need to fight because we have our own resources.

The fact is that oil is sold as a commodity on international exchanges. Every drop of oil that isn’t spilt is sold in the global marketplace for oil. So if an oil company pumps oil in the Gulf of Mexico, Alaska or Texas, it does not go directly to feed our addiction to oil.

Oil is “a fungible global commodity. When it comes up out of the ground, it gets sold on international exchanges.

And so, there is no such thing as reducing our dependence on “foreign” oil. There’s no barrels marked somewhere: ‘foreign.’”

To “reduce your dependence on oil, that is something you do on the demand side. It’s not something you do on the supply side.”

There isn’t enough domestic “supply to put a dent in the global escalation of prices for oil we’re going to see with China and India’s increasing demand.

And OPEC would decrease their production relative to any additional increase in U.S. oil production if there were not such a demand from the countries that we have off-shored our manufacturing to.

Full all out production in this country would only have a fractional effect on prices at the pump.
