Hi.
I'm Matthew Vadum and I've been a member of Free Republic for close to five years, I think. I've been hounding ACORN for three of those years and have discovered some fascinating and disturbing things about the group, Saul Alinsky, Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, LBJ's "War on Poverty," and ACORN founder Wade Rathke.
Even if you think you know ACORN pretty well, you'll still learn new and shocking things about President Obama's favorite activist group.
The book contains exclusive interviews with Newt Gingrich, Howard Phillips, David Horowitz, Eugene Genovese, Ron Radosh, and even longtime ACORN ally Noam Chomsky.
I've set up a Facebook page about the book that I hope you'll check out: http://www.facebook.com/subversioninc
I've also established a blog at http://matthewvadum.blogspot.com/
Blogger/blogspot is fine for some purposes but it is a bit limiting so I may set up a more professional author website as well.
The book, Subversion Inc.: How Obama's ACORN Red Shirts Are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers, will be published very soon.

Here's the official blurb:
Product Description
Ballot box stuffers. Urban terrorists. Gangsters. President Barack Obamas favorite community organizing group and former employer, ACORN, is all these things and more and rumors of its death have been greatly exaggerated. The organized crime syndicate is alive and well, and planning to resurface before the critical 2012 elections.
In Subversion Inc., investigative reporter Matthew Vadum traces the checkered history of the group and proves that the members of ACORN, and the thousands of wannabe offshoots it inspired, are foot soldiers in a long-running war on Americas free political institutions.
Following the break the bank strategy of Marxists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, ACORN seeks to overload the system with impossible financial demands literally destroying Americas economy. With group supporters dominating the Obama administration and the Democratic Partys organizing apparatus, thuggery and intimidation already have their talons dug deeply in the corridors of power in Washington and are dragging our country into a socialist nightmare.
Exposing the underbelly of leftwing politics and how to destroy it, Subversion, Inc. is the key exposé to save Americas capitalism and democracy in 2012.
Reviews
Through his careful research, Matthew Vadum shined a light that exposed ACORNs corruption. For months I fought to cut off the flow of tax dollars to ACORN. In Subversion Inc., Vadum warns that despite the defunding of ACORN, the group has only feigned death. -- Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota)
"Thanks to Matthew Vadum's extensive research there is no way liberals will be able to whitewash the evils of ACORN. History will not be kind to America's most notorious pressure group." -- Hannah Giles, Investigative Journalist
About the Author
An award-winning investigative journalist, Matthew Vadum is a senior editor at Capital Research Center (CRC),a think tank that studies left-wing advocacy groups and their funders. Subversion Inc. is his first book and the culmination of nearly three years of research and hundreds of interviews. Since joining CRC in 2006, his work has been cited in more than two dozen books and by multiple media outlets, including Fox News, Weekly Standard, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Christian Science Monitor.
In her bestselling expose of the Obama administration, Culture of Corruption, Michelle Malkin hails Vadum for having the foresight and insight to report on the [ACORN] story when nobody else would. Glenn Beck said he finally got it when Vadum appeared on his TV show to talk about ACORN and helped him draw one of his famous tree diagrams. The Washington Post recognizes Vadum as an opinion maker because he writes some of the harder edged and more influential briefings in the conservative movement.
A graduate of Georgetown Universitys masters program in American Studies, Vadum lives and works in Washington, D.C.

In the next round of budget talks/raising the debt ceiling, the following should be included:
Defunding ACORN, OBAMACARE, NPR, Planned Parenthood and The National Endowment of the Arts (NEA). These entities should be funded privately or through charitable contributions and NOT be funded by the government.
Let us also eliminate the entire federal Department of Education and return that power back to the individual states.
Let us pass the Fair Tax, eliminate all tax loopholes and then eliminate the entire IRS.
Then let us investigate all reports of income tax evasion.
Let us investigate all government contracts.
Let us also investigate all reports of waste, fraud and abuse in the Social Security and Medicare systems. Millionaires and billionaires should not be receiving social security benefits. Pass legislation that eliminates the current retirement for legislators and put them under the Social Security System and watch how quick they stop raiding the money earmarked for it and watch how quickly they say that SOCIAL SECURITY IS GOING BROKE AND MUST BE FIXED instead of telling the American people the big lie that there is nothing wrong with it.
This book is very timely. For tea-partiers, the war has not ended but just begun. Your book will be a very good source for those battling the governmnent behemoth. Thank you for your very good work.

In before the incredibly boring thread nannies who have nothing better to do than whine about fellow FR members who want to share their opinions/blogs/books, etc.
You’re a terrific writer Mathew and I’m looking forward to reading your book. When are you going to go after the nonprofits? I’m thinking they have a zillion by now and all actively seeking the downfall of this great country.
It isn’t even simply the NGOs. The entire grant system is corrupt. For example, I have seen in the past (around 2000) where a facilitator was able to add to a grant a $20k *administrative fee* for himself. He not only had nothing to do with the grant (an agricultural enterprise), was a political aspirant and connected to the largest organic company in the state who had, at the point in time, already received over $500M in grants, he arrogantly informed the grant writer that IF he got his $20k, then maybe “next time”, her grant would be approved. Since the grant writer was not a recognized member of the leftist cadre, she had no chance of her grant even being submitted without the help of a facilitator who was *connected*. At that point in time, the head of the Agricultural Marketing Board in Wisconsin, was a far left associate of the Governor, Jim Doyle. The Director then retired and promptly took a Board position with a non-profit dedicated to industrial hemp production.
In the 80s, I served three terms on the Wisconsin Arts Review Board, responsible for allocation of NEA state grant money. I was the only non-political and working artist member of the board. The largest percentage of the $3M allocated to the state went to large institutional organizations with endowments that are the favorite charities of the wealthy and connected (symphony, art museums, opera, dance companies). These organizations also charge admission to their productions. When I queried the ethics of this, the tape recorder was turned off and I was angrily informed that “It is legal”.
I am convinced that every dime of Federal money coming into the states is distributed in a corrupt manner.
Here is a link to the tree diagram I helped Beck do:
Thanks bronxville.
