He’s hired: Donald Trump to join ‘Fox and Friends’

The heartburn that a prospective Donald Trump presidential bid gives to other Republican candidates will now be delivered on a weekly basis.

The bombastic real estate mogul will now be joining the morning show "Fox and Friends" every Monday, the program announced.

"The Donald now makes his voice loud and clear every Monday on Fox," asserts a promo, which was first reported by Mediaite, a news media website.

Lately, Trump has been loud and clear on the you-can’t-kill-it-no-matter-how-hard-you-try matter of President Barack Obama’s origins, producing his own birth certificate and daring the president to do the same.

He nearly sent Fox News talker Bill O’Reilly into orbit in an appearance earlier this week on the issue, which O’Reilly called a conspiracy that has been thoroughly debunked.

"People have birth certificates. He doesn’t have a birth certificate," Trump said on O’Reilly’s show. "Now, he may have one but there is something on that birth certificate — maybe religion, maybe it says he’s a Muslim, I don’t know. Maybe he doesn’t want that. Or, he may not have one.

"But I will tell you this. If he wasn’t born in this country it’s one of the great scams of all time," Trump remarked.

"Absolutely," O’Reilly replied, "but I don’t think that’s the case," — and went on to essentially call Trump a huckster. "I think it’s provocative. I don’t think you believe that either. You get a lot of attention raising the question."

"Two weeks ago I felt like probably he was born in the country," Trump said. "I’m telling you it’s changed. I have seen too many things."

This was the same program where Trump said he has "a great, big, fat, beautiful heart."

Most mainstream Republicans would love to see the birther issue dead and buried before the 2012 elections, but Trump doesn’t want to appear to let go. And the "Fox and Friends" pulpit will allow him to say provocative things early in the week, which is certain to draw attention from presidential contenders such as Tim Pawlenty, who not only now has to compete for oxygen with the say-anything Trump, but also with unrepentant bomb-throwers such as Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich.

Oddly enough, Trump is gaining a Fox News platform when some of his possible rivals for the GOP nomination have lost theirs. The network cut ties with Gingrich and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum when they became clear about their presidential aspirations, and is poised to do the same with Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin if the time arises.

Happy with this...better than having to catch him on someone’s show.

Am I the only one who preferred FNC in its outsider, Young Turk, make-our-own-stars mode?

Beyond the loony lefty politics of the network morning shows (why did the Weather Channel sell out and bring in Al Roker when so many of us fled his original NBC home? It’s not as if they were short of weather forecasters) they were and are a load of plugfests with live commercials masquerading as interviews. I regret using such a coarse term but industry insiders call this star******g and FNC seems to have embraced this approach to its detriment.

Perhaps his ratings on BOR's show went over the top and Fox snapped him up. They'll let Trump make innocuous weekly appearances until he decides to run, or not.

If he doesn't run, Fox can then replace BOR with The Donald. (Wishful thinking.)

Interesting.
With Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee all making moves indicating they may run for president, their common employer is facing a question that hasn’t been asked before: How does a news organization cover White House hopefuls when so many are on the payroll? link
Fox News Channel suspended the contracts of Gingrich and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum as it conflicted with their political aspirations. Did Trump change his mind regarding his political aspirations? Isn't it a bit strange that Fox continues it's reliance on other Republicans with political aspirations - especially those, like Trump who present as a force for the dems to reckon with? Is it possible that the serious contenders are being set up for some sort of legal battle regarding their ties to Fox and campaign contribution in terms of value of televised exposure?

I thought this was an April Fools article....until I Googled it.

I never used to like Trump but honestly find his honesty and outspokenness refreshing.

Let’s hope others learn that that is what people want.

Not the tired BS party lines.

Why exactly is Gretchen a “bimbo” in your eyes?

She is intelligent and classy.

The same cannot be said for you.

I wouldn’t call her a bimbo, but I don’t like watching her. She is smart, but not nearly as smart as she imagines herself to be, and clearly sits there at times while the guys’ sarcasm is lost on her.
It’s hard to read the FR headlines today, as I also thought this one might be an April Fool’s thing. But Trump frequently calls Fox on the phone already, so it’s not much of a stretch.

BTW you should have heard MSNBC bashing Trump last night. They were desperately trying to erode his credibility.
He is onto Hussein and the media types are scared sh*tless.
