Samantha Power: The Troubling Woman Behind The Curtain Of Obama’s Libya Policy
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | March 23, 2011 | Chris Queen

Posted on 03/25/2011 8:09:54 AM PDT by Walter Scott Hudson

President Obama’s actions involving Libya have been baffling at best. He did nothing for days. He talked about waiting to build a coalition for multilateral action. He downplayed the concept of regime change, yet one of the main objectives for engaging has been to get rid of Colonel Qaddafi. It’s been a strange couple of weeks for Obama in terms of his foreign policy, and there still hasn’t been a clear explanation for what we’re doing in Libya and why we’re doing it.

Much of the motivation behind Obama’s Libya policy stems from from the ideology of Samantha Power, the Irish-American, hard-Left humanitarian activist who has been the president’s Director for Multilateral Affairs at the National Security Council since 2009 (and, incidentally, the wife of Obama’s “Regulatory Czar” Cass Sunstein). Power is the woman behind the curtain in terms of Obama's policy on Libya, but a look at what she advocates reveals a troubling agenda.

Power has advocated a foreign policy that can easily be described as what Stanley Kurtz calls “humanitarian interventionist.” Power and other activists like her seek to build American foreign policy around merely stepping into situations in the name of preventing genocide and other humanitarian aims. This type of foreign policy relies heavily on international law and multilateralism. It is also the reason behind Obama’s actions in Libya and the timing of them. As Kurtz states:

Most of the commentary on Libya has focused on the tension between Obama’s apparent desire to displace Qaddafi and his reluctance to admit to it. But the chief reason for this intervention is the one that’s staring us in the face...

Glenn Beck’s work is getting around! GOOD.

And he has been backing his stuff with their own spoken or written words. It's too bad that Fox wouldn't kick that bloating nitwit O'Rielly off and give the time slot to Beck.

I couldn’t agree with you more if my life depended on it.

O’Reilly’s silly program is a waste of prime time, whereas Beck is informative.

This morning Imus asked Cavuto what was going on with Beck.... if the rumors were true that Beck is leaving Fox News? Cavuto said he didn’t have any information.

I will be more than upset. That’ll do it for me. I listened to Beck’s radio show. Not a word about it.

Glenn’s tv show last night was very informative. BTW, I never even heard of Cass Sunstein or Power before Glenn talked about them.

Glenn’s been calling Sunstein the most dangerous man in America for a year or so but until this week, I didn’t know that he was married to this gawd awful Samatha Powers.

The House needs to drag them both up before a committee. They are anti-American.

Beck was brilliant on exposing this silly family conspiracy..
Cass and Sammy.. the couple "in deep treason" with each other..
Oh! and Barry Half-White too..

The Story should start, "It happened one dark stormy nite.."

Beck is beautiful.. I miss the guy with the pipe..
"Come on Glen'... more characterizations..

The Gadhafi precedent: Could attack on Libya set the stage for action against Israel?

U.S. should steer clear of Israel -bashing venue
Chicago Sun-Times (IL) - Tuesday, February 17, 2009
Author: Steve Huntley, Special to The Chicago Sun-Times

(snip)

It’s the World Conference Against Racism, set for April in Geneva. The event is called Durban II because it’s a sequel to a so-called anti-racism meeting in South Africa in 2001 so venomous in its attacks on the West in general and America and Israel in particular that Secretary of State Colin Powell ordered the U.S. delegation to walk out. That show of outrage may have prevented the meeting from adopting a resolution equating Zionism to racism.

(snip)

The draft condemns “racial discrimination against the Palestinians,” who suffer under a “foreign occupation founded on settlements.” The settlement accusation is especially egregious because Israel evicted settlers in 2005 when it pulled out of the Gaza Strip in another failed attempt to trade land for peace. The document’s authors have accused Israel of a “form of apartheid.”

The draft blames “counterterrorism measures” for “the rise of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, including the practice of racial, ethnic, national and religious profiling.” In other words, efforts by America and other nations to protect themselves from Islamist murderers are racist.

Durban II, expected to cost $6.8 million, is being organized by the wretched U.N. Human Rights Council. Council members include such human rights abusers as Cuba, China, Russia and Saudi Arabia. You won’t be surprised to hear that 21 of its 26 resolutions over the last couple of years have condemned Israel . It picked countries such as Iran — whose president says Israel “must be wiped off the map” — and Libya to set the agenda for Durban II.

(snip)

The other official is Samantha Power of the National Security Council. She was at Durban I as a representative of a nongovernmental organization. A few years ago, she said Washington should reduce military aid to Israel and redirect the funds to “Palestine.” Such a view ignores the history of aid to Palestinians being funneled to buy weapons, support terrorism and line the pockets of corrupt leaders such as Yasser Arafat.

The Mary Robinson caper; who done it?

I don’t think we’ve commented on President Obama’s decision to bestow the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Mary Robinson, the former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights who headed up the Durban Conference Against Racism that became an anti-Semitic hate-fest (the Unites States and Israel boycotted it, to Robinson’s dismay). Robinson’s history of consistent animosity towards Israel has caused Abraham Foxman, head of the Anti-Defamation League, to criticize the selection. Foxman calls Robinson “a lead cheerleader for the Palestinian narrative” during her time as High Commissioner.

(snip)

In short, there’s good reason to suspect that, as Lasky puts it, “the idea for nominating Robinson came from the woman who thinks very much like her and probably desires to emulate her: Samantha Power.”

Wow, she looks thrilled in that picture.

If that is how she looked on her wedding day, she must be a huge bummer to be around.

Libya is a dress rehearsal for the main attack which will be on Israel.
