This just what I think he’s wanted all along. By removing United States as a stable firm handler of all things geopolitical he has unleashed a multitude of religious, prejudicial and territorial hot spots all over the world especially the Middle East.
Where in past the U.S. might have immediately stepped in to settle or negotiate to calm these riffs before they exploded, Obama as usual prefers to vote present and there by take no position leaving a power void.
He and many on the left would rather the world explode than the U.S. be seen as a superpower or leader.
I think you've summed it up. In addition, there is the fact that regardless of which side wins in any of these conflicts, the result is going to be a much more Islamist Middle East.
If we had supported Mubarak (who was the most US friendly of them all) with the condition that he would uphold secularism and commit to a couple of reforms (which were actually in progress anyway), we could have stopped this. But Obama actually opposed him for this very reason.
Since then Ears has been voting present on all the rest of the conflicts because he knows that whichever side wins, it's going to be a victory for Islam, either because the more aggressively Islamist side has won, or because the current government wins and then feels that by becoming more Islamist it will placate the radical "rebel" element.
Either one works to the building of the new caliphate, and I suspect the next set of conflicts will simply be to see which Islamic leader gets to proclaim himself Top o' the Heap Caliph. Hopefully, not the one in the White House...
Well we might finally find out if the “O” is Sunni or Shiite
Looks that way.
After all, it was openly expressed by some during the Clinton era but at the time viewed as radical and extreme. We shouldn't be surprised Obama's taking that path.
