If you can look at that video and tell those are copts as opposed anyone else, then you’re a better man than I.
I’m not accusing anyone of anything, because I don’t know who those people actually are.
I will tell you that at certain places in the video/soundtrack, the firing didn’t seem to match up at all. There didn’t seem to be any guns being fired to match up to the sound.
Some video production sound on less expensive recording devices can track improperly, so I’m not able to make a full determination on that count either.
Please don’t read everything I say as an attack on the Coptics. It is reasonable for a person to wonder what it is they are actually seeing. That doesn’t mean evil intent.
I’m not assigning any intent on your part, least of all anything evil. You’ve been around here long enough for me to know that’s not what you’re about.
And I have no problem with a cautious approach to an unverified video. Given the circumstances, it’s perfectly reasonable and prudent.
I’m just weighing the evidence that I have in front of me — multiple videos, reports and firsthand account from Copts — and finding little reason to doubt the veracity of the claims being made (aside from one western blogger’s assertion of an attempted massacre). On top of that, I have my own bias. I’m a Christian, I detest islam with all of my heart and I fear for the safety of my fellow Christians who find themselves surrounded by bloodthirsty islamists in a chaotic, lawless land.
