Real estate developer Donald Trump made waves at the CPAC convention last week saying that Texas Representative Ron Paul would not get elected in 2012. That was met with boos and shouts of 'fascist' from Paul's followers. Now a new poll shows that Trump is not terribly popular within the GOP.
This poll is from Public Policy Polling, which tends to favor Democrats. The following was asked just of Republicans. Democrats and Independents were not asked in this poll. It is unclear what the figures would be if they were.

“He inherited his real estate career and fortune. He’s filed for bankruptcy twice. He’s been billions in debt and defaulted on loans, screwing banks and partners out of hundreds of millions of dollars.”
To the first statement, he started with about a million dollars and has parlayed it into billions. To the second, fair or not, bankruptcy (corporate) is often used as a shrewd business strategy. And to the third, well, he certainly will know how to fight that same thing against all the countries who have done (and are still doing) the same to OUR country.
Trump is one notch below the Slap-Chop dude.
Reagan did serve 2 terms as governor prior to his run for the WH.
Jesse Ventura. Well, he’s on about the same level as Jerry Springer.

Granted, Obama did lower the bar significantly. He was a US Senator 2 years when he announced his run for the presidency. At least Clinton did have one full Senate term and had just won reelection and was in her 2nd term 20 days when she announced.
“Just in case you haven’t noticed, He’s a Dem.”
Post no lies herein. He said on Greta he was a registered Republican.
“He was a US Senator 2 years when he announced his run for the presidency.”
Yes, I know - he attended a “whopping” 143 days in all. He voted “Present” around 130 times when in Ill. state senate. But he DID make a point of voting many times against protecting both the unborn and those born despite attempted abortion. Read about his vote against the Induced Infant Liability Act and others sometime.
I’m just saying that other than his brief senate escapades and making an attention-getting speech at the ‘04 Dem. National Convention, he appeared virtually out of nowhere.
But all that aside, regarding Trump or Cain, perhaps it’s best to have someone who’s NEVER been in politics with its accompanying mentality.
Good point about the bankruptcies.
I don't know where you heard that, but Fred Trump's empire was worth billions in adjusted dollars. It included over 27,000 apartments and houses in Brooklyn and Queens. I know it didn't all go to The Donald, but it wasn't just money that he inherited, it was the business and all the contacts.
And his personal wealth (which seems to inflate and deflate as robustly as Oprah's weight) owes a lot to the wreckage of partners, creditors, investors and banks that he left holding the bag for his business failures.
Now, he seems just to rent out his name for the business ventures of others. It just screams "giant loud wealth" to some people looking for that particular marketing association.
I honestly don't care much about The Donald and wish him well, but it would be embarrassing if he's the best the GOP can come up with.
I guess he’s one of those Repubs that voted for Obama and sends the Dems money. You mean like one of those Republicans?
The million dollars starting out came from a biography that said that, and I think Trump said the same himself - that his dad gave him a million to get started, which DT proceeded to multiply. That was, of course, while the dad was still alive, many, many years ago.
