This is the most recent UPDATE and it will be the last update for information about this huge Cyclone that impacted North Queensland in Australia. I have links to videos and image galleries showing the immense damage caused as this Category 5 storm swept through this area. While there is damage to thousands of homes, the main damage is to the Banana plantations, and this area grows and supplies 90% of Australia's bananas. There is also huge damage to the Sugar Cane crops as well, as this is also a huge sugar cane growing area. While this huge storm impacted across an area where there were around 500,000 people, so far not one death has been reported, and in fact, no serious injury even.
Grateful that there are no deaths. Australia has suffered much lately, I will keep her in my prayers.
Are you OK down there Fred?
Lots of destruction of property and crops, no major injuries, no loss of life, Yasi now heading towards Mount Isa in the Centre, rain and wind...
No more bananas! Sugar cane fields flattened!
Where did you go? What happened to the updates? Are YOU ok?
The building codes need to be revised...some of those houses look like they are held together by a few nails and a prayer...
Whoa! The people are not broken though. The banana plantations suffered the highest damage, eh?
How about your area, you still have a roof , right?
I’m a thousand miles away...Queensland is a HUGE State.
Good. I just didn’t know your location in relation to the storms track. Glad you are safe and dry!
That is truly amazing and I hope it stays that way.
