It was during that conversation with Ray a few days ago that he nailed me with that question. We had been talking for about an hour about how things went down here in Argentina, the similarities, inflation, how shopping carts keep getting more and more expensive, how crime affects your lifestyle. But what to do? The person now gets it, the person not only understands the wisdom in preparing for disasters large and small but comprehends that due to the current economic situation, life in general is going to change from now on, unemployment, inflation, loss of life quality in general, crime. But now what?

The only way the USA can avoid these troubles is to reduce the power of the Federal Gov’t and return it to States and localities.
Argentina shows it in spades - when the Central Gov’t is in charge, corruption reigns and there is no law or responsibility on the ground. Decentralized Gov’t is what has made the United States prosperous and stable, and the people responsible and law-abiding.
We are steadily losing that.

You get (x)number of Mexicans.
You call them “Sheriffs”.
You assign each of them a section of the border on the Mexican side.
You deposit $1,000,000 in an account for each of them.
For every border crosser we catch, we withdraw $10,000 from the account of the Sheriff responsible for that section of the border.
The Sheriffs collect what's left in the account at the end of six months.
Repeat.

The Banditos would just loot the account and disappear He wanted Texans in charge of the cash, but then again, Texas has their own Banditos just like every state. I don't know if this is true or not, but he said something similar to this happened one time in Texas history.

I have a theory that Kinky was out partying one night and stumbled to what he thought was home, fell asleep with a cigar dreaming gubernatorial dreams, and burnt the gov mansion down.
Kinky seems like the kind of fellow that would be great to have a beer with.
I just dont know if I would trust him to fry the turkey at the Thanksgiving dinner if you know what I mean.

My grown son is taking care of the safety issue (if you know what I mean) and I am taking care of the food issue. We have a paramedic seeing to the medical. Not much can be done about the price of gas...
