Second suspect sought in Arizona shooting spree [with picture]

Authorities are searching for a second suspect they describe as a “person of interest” in the shooting incident in Tucson, Arizona that critically injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed six others. The man is described as an adult Caucasian male, between 40 and 50 years-old, with dark hair, His picture is shown in a security camera image at left.

Police are not providing specific details of the possible role this man might have had in the shooting spree, although a law enforcement source close to the investigation told this author that the man might have had prior knowledge of the plans of the primary suspect, Jared Lee LOUGHNER.

The as-yet unidentified male was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark blue jacket.

There was the "reader" at Daily Kos who gave inklings of doing this ~ but since he posted after the event most folks have dismissed him as being Jared.

However, some of these Kos-ites and DU-ers are actually composed of TEAMS of people who maintain a 24 hour presence on line.

The Judge was just at the gathering as was the little girl.

Investigators have recovered a pistol with an extended magazine [ glock 19], according to Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Rich Kastigar. They do not know how the shooter got to the scene. Govexec.com

The New York Times' Paul Krugman writes "You know that Republicans will yell about the evils of partisanship whenever anyone tries to make a connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc. and the violence I fear we’re going to see in the months and years ahead. But violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate. And it’s long past time for the GOP’s leaders to take a stand against the hate-mongers."

Yesterday was surreal. First thing I read is the headless bodies found in Acapulco and then I read there was a Congressperson and others shot and killed in Tuscon. FR was not user friendly so I turned on the tube. There is Henry (CNN) reporting from the White House, after a press release, telling the president was at a sports event.

Then Henry goes on to say that this event could be his OKC bombing as was for Clintons reelection. The day really went into bizarre mode as the media decided to make this a Palin led Tea Party action. Some liberal claimed the shooter was an Afghan vet. I have never read/heard such a flood of outright lies and slander since OKC massacre.

It’s interesting you mention the Cantor thing. I don’t recall the media blaming the dems for their anti-GOP/anti-Bush/anti-conservative rhetoric and stirring up violence. They just ssaid “nothing to see here, this guy is just a total loon”. Well, the same thing happened here, unfortunately this guy was able to do something and not just make threats.

I have no idea if this is true.

At either AboveTopSecret, or else it was GodlikeProductions, I read that the reason the reports on victims varied so very much in the beginning is that....... a number of shooting victims drove themselves to hospitals.

Just how long did it take for EMTs to arrive and treat 5 or 6 victims remaining???
