The action of the military clearly displays an intent to force obedience to the chain of command right up to the Commander in Chief regardless of fealty to the Constitution. This was not the intent of the Founders and effectively leaves us with no protection against domestic enemies. This is terribly bad precedent. Remember today. They have seeded the field and I fear the crops it will produce.

Sad to say though, this reaction by our military to me is prima facie evidence that we the people can no longer rely on our military to defend us against treason from within.

At least for the highest levels of leadership it certainly does look that way.

And...For posting this some Obot is sure to accuse me of having contempt for our military. That of course is absolutely not the case. Our fine military deserve to have a legitimate Commander in Chief...**all** of them...even the highest officers.

How can having this cloud of doubt over Obama's eligibility be good for morale. If Obama is doing this for political traction against the Republicans, then it is OBAMA who holds the military in contempt for using them as political pawns.

I hear ya. The corruption and incompetence appears to be far too pervasive to start at the top...or even near the top. At the moment, the options don't look too promising.

Perhaps some in this new freshman class can be reminded of why they were elected and that representatives ignoring this issue because the "media" ridicules it is simply not acceptable. Maybe...just maybe, if enough people write such letters to them...maybe this new group will listen and actually do something about it. Of course, we won't know what they will do until we try. Admittedly, that's a whole lot-a maybe's. However, until then, we continued to spread this information out in public. Information truly is power!

I have come to the same conclusion gramma. Unfortunately the example of the troops in Germany under Hitler was a stark reminder of what will happen in this country. Like you said, “if a conservative website can’t come to this officer’s defense” in a cohesive manner regardless of whether he is right or wrong we are toast. To find out if he is right is more important and would be the right thing to do. To sit behind a computer screen and scream “we are sick of the lies” and then claim “he is on his own because he broke the law” is shameful and telling.

Lakin should have just asked Snopes if obama is eligible or if that failed, asked his senator to look into it for him.

Then he would have gotten the same 'obama is eligible' form letter from his senator that the rest of us got and he could use the form letter for his chain of command. All orders flow from the form letter.

Obviously he didn’t decide to disobey his deployment orders simply based on an opinion. He sought advice and guidance at every level of command and through his Congressional representatives and what he got back from them did more to confirm his reservations than to pacify them. The DoD proved itself unaccountable for its own command structure and it remains in that state today.
