Teach your kids to respond to such intrusions with “It’s none of your business!”
Then when these idiots show up, answer each question with “It’s none of your business!”
Then when they threaten some “legal action”, let them know that every second of their over reaching will be on camera.
Just like every bureaucrat, they continue to expand their reach until somebody cuts off their hand.

Sorry, that's rubbish. CPS is constrained by the same 4A and 5A limitations as any another law enforcement agency. Only in exigent circumstance, the same kinds of circumstances that allow police to enter without a warrant, can a CPS enter without a warrant. This is well-settled law.
Given the questions about where you go camping, what renovations you’ve done to the house, and whether you have guns I’d say they’re looking for a weapons cache.
Believe it. There are many worse horror stories.

In many states, to interview a child without notifying hte parents, and/or without any lawyer may be a crime.
Make criminals of Gubbament Klowns - it’s fun and sometimes even profitable.

I would have immediately retained an attorney and had them present and recorded any conversation with Child Protective Services. Under their perspective you are guilty of something.
As a foster mother for Children’s services for over 30 years before I retired, BELIEVE IT!

It happened to my nephew and family. LITERALLY ruined their family because of being falsely accused.

Sorry, that's Pollyanna thinking. No judge would ever decline to grant them a warrant. Instantly. No questions asked. They are NOT like any other LE agency. They will have a cop and a warrant there in five minutes, right on your doorstep, if you retreat behind your "rights."

Did this happen to you? This is terrible and frightening which is the purpose of it, I suppose. Intimidation of citizens seems to be the way of these socialists.
I am sorry for any parent that has been abused by the government like this. Sherry should report it to her Federal congressman and senator and to her State represenatives.
It is intersting that the victim, after all this, sees nothing wrong if CPS went after anyone who exposed their children to end times...aka, the return of Jesus. It is none of the government’s business what Americans believe in and talk to their kids about. This is secret police stuff you would see from the KGB.

Our neighbors have it in for us, and we’ve had a visit from pretty much every agency on the city...I’m just waiting for CPS to show up.

***UPDATE 12/5/10 – 10:50am est – I realized last night, as I continued thinking about this CPS ordeal and still trying to put the pieces together – this CPS interview happened within days of a conference call I had with a couple of Large Class Action Law Firms – regarding “the strategy” and what needed to be done to begin Class Action Foreclosure Fraud Law Suits in all States. I have no idea if this was the catalyst to the CPS allegations. What is also interesting, is we were suppose to have another conference call, the day before this happened – that call did not happen and since the firms have not gotten back to me, yet Class Actions were suppose to begin. This was not information I wanted to release, it may or may not have something to do with this. End of Update**
Think about how long they were tracking this person because they knew a lot about her before they made contact with her child.
AND think about how she was interviewed by 3 people - salaries paid by the taxpayer.
Thee are two sides to every story, especially ones like these.
Embellishment and the withholding pertinent information is typical in such stories.

To your other comment -I am not sure if the person writing would approve that CPS investigate someone with those beliefs, she was renouncing that she believed in it. At least that is how I understood it.
A person’s beliefs should not be part of anything like CPS.
Nothing gets me angry like the government coming into a home and messing with a family. And I agree, this is bigger than CPS. Scary.
I copied the portion that was difficult to believe. I still don’t believe it. Just because someone believes she doesn’t have any rights when cps arrives and acts accordingly does not make her belief accurate. The horror of the story is irrelevant.
You know, I’m as big a grammar policeman as anyone, but I hardly noticed any problem with her writing. I was riveted by the story and what it means about my country.

I've spent a little time around the courthouse in the last three decades. I have to say that I've seen my share of warrant applications declined, and I've seen more than my fair share quashed.
Prosecutors lose cases all the time because the police erred (read: outright lied) in their warrant application, or because they collected evidence without a warrant entirely.
Don't be so sure. That question, along with the ones about stored food supplies and alternate heating sources are likely to provide the kind of info someone would want if they planned to lay siege to a structure or compound. But, strangely, I saw no questions about weapons ownership.

Also keep in mind they interviewed her ex- for 2 hours - that question about weapons may have been posed to him. His interview was not recorded.
