Is Obama getting a free pass over WikiLeaks? Left would have bayed for Bush's blood if he was in WH
The London Telegraph ^ | December 3, 2010 | Nile Gardiner

It has undoubtedly been a hugely embarrassing few days on the world stage, not only for the Obama administration, but also for America. The United States’ position as a superpower and the trust of important allies has been undermined by unscrupulous, America-hating figures with the aid and comfort of several major newspapers including The New York Times, Le Monde and The Guardian.

However the WikiLeaks scandal to date has not resulted in demonstrable consequences for the Obama presidency or for the president himself. This despite the fact the Obama administration appears to have done little to halt the latest leak, even though this is the third unlawful disclosure of government documents this year.

The Obama team has been spectacularly caught napping by America’s enemies like a deer in the headlights. As Marc Thiessen noted in a superb piece earlier this week:

Because of its failure to act, responsibility for the damage done by these most recent disclosures now rests with the Obama administration. Perhaps this latest release crosses a line that will finally spur the administration to action.

Fortunately for the president, the main focus of blame in the US media so far has not been directed at the failures of the White House or State Department, but upon the individual or individuals directly responsible for leaking information within the US government, as well as Julian Assange and his nefarious WikiLeaks organisation.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill will though be demanding swift and immediate action in the coming weeks to prevent future leaks. There will certainly be Congressional hearings into the leaks, and the US administration’s handling of it, with both the House and Senate seeking answers to a massive security breach....

Personally, I believe that the latest leaks killed Hillary's career ambitions

I am leaning the the leaks where orchestrated by the White House to eliminate any Democrat rivals in 2012.

Note to PUMAs...pay attention.

Interesting comments at the link:

This is classic Lefty-ism. How many times did we, here, have public sector workers leaving swathes of national data on trains and the like? They dismiss it whenever it is themselves, we shouldn't be surprised that this is the stance they are taking, it's still their watch for another two years. Anyway, as serendipity would allow, they have a disgruntled 22 y/o scapegoat to make use of.

However, perhaps it can be turned around and become one more reason why the public sector should be reduced. The fewer people employed by the State, the greater the accountability of the rest, and the less likely we are to have such fiascos. I imagine, instead, this will be an excuse to go all authoritarian - another penchant of the Left.

This is only another plank in the Obama destroy America platform. He could care less about these leaks. He is vengefully destroying as much of the USA he can before he is run out on a rail. He has the media and the thousands of little rat fink anarchists who never follow the rule of law.

The leftist media in the USA is so in the tank for Obama, that they have already drowned.

Note how CNN refused to publish and report the leaks when offered? They did not want to offend the Obamessiah.

The incompetent vacationer never gets held responsible for anything. It’s always Bush’s fault.

What a joke on us America. I’m ashamed of all the gullible rubes who voted for this moronic dork.

Well, yeah. This is the kind of big story the news media would latch onto and use as a mallet to hit Bush over the head with for weeks on end.

But with Obama... well, with him, it’s like he’s just some sort of innocent bystander to it all. Heck, is he ever even mentioned in news stories in regards to the scandal?

...Knowing that the scumbag Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms will do absolutely nothing to ever hold Ubanga accountable for anything.
Your theory is excellent!

I had the same thought today Mo. Assange isn’t American, so he’s not a citizen or an American patriot. He owes us nothing. If you view him as a media outlet, all “us” patriotic Americans are calling for his head and cheering the shutdowns of his website. He didn’t steal the information, he just published it. The people that stole the information are guilty of espionage. Yet so many reflexively support shutting him down.

They can come after Free Republic or any other website that publishes government secrets if that is the case. We have probably already printed some of the documents or information in them from the leaks here. What happens if someone goes public with information here at FR? We go down, shut down, Robinson arrested?

I worry that all this is planned. Just another cog in the wheel of government control. They have to get the internet under their thumb or we can communicate facts and organize against government. Mute the internet and it’s back to the old system of quietly fleecing the sheep.

A NYSlimes exec stated that they worked for hours with the White House determining exactly what would be released to the public.

Is there anyone left who doesn’t think O was in on the release as a way to undermine hitlery. But mostly to undermine America.

BTTT.

Hiding our governmental nincompoops' blunders under a blanket of censorship is a reprise of the worst tactics of any totalitarian government.

The Kenyan Clown and his circus are incompetent; Mrs. Clinton has been shown to be the silliest and most trivial Secretary of State in our history — and considering that her only real competition was Mrs. Albright, that's utterly disgraceful.
